CleatsnCleavage Posted March 25, 2015 Share Mica in Bedfordview has a cycling section, go figure, and they have Louis Garneau for about R1000.
EmptyB Posted March 25, 2015 Share I've never been lucky enough to find decent entry level shoes....they all sucked! Spending the extra money is more worth while in the long run imo.......
nonky Posted March 25, 2015 Share The lower level Shimano shoes are GREAT, have a nice wide fit and they throw in free cleats, if I recall correctly.
dre Posted March 25, 2015 Share As many above I can vouch for the toughness of Olympic. They are stiff and will last a few years. Have been using them as my spinning shoe for the last two years or so. Not the most comfortable shoe to walk in though (so carry the necessary spares so you don't have to walk back to the car)
Mojoman Posted March 25, 2015 Share Mojoman, where did you buy these? Looks comfy. I got them from Cajees at Princess Crossing (now at Horizon view or somewhere near Westgate, the shop looks 1000x better now). A bit scruffy currently, I sometimes just spray a bit of upholstery cleaner on them and brush off, but the material is still 100% as is the plastic/rubber coating on the heel and toe sections. I just need to buy a new inner as the original one is pretty much wafer thin now! I have done a 5 or 6km push-a-bike before with them and had no problems walking. Harryn Posted March 25, 2015 Share I bought mtb shoes from CRC in the past 18 months and don't remember any 40% duties. I only remember the usual 15%. But then again, I am prone to losing the plot a bit these days. I was about to buy a new pair - will need to double-check this before I do.Clothing and apparel attracts duty - you were v lucky to get away with it! DubbelBuys Posted March 26, 2015 Share I am looking at getting a pair of Giro Rumble VR's. Click on image to view different angles & sole Should be around R1100-R1200 & has vibram soles for those who are out to search for the path less travelled. Currently on a set of Specialized Tahoe (discontinued) shoes for around a year & they are very comfy & so far durable.
Andrew_ew Posted March 26, 2015 Share http://www.sidionline.co.za/mtb/sidi-sierra/ R1000. These are seriously good shoes, stiff, no buckle closure but they don't come loose. They are comfortable, a great fit, very lightweight and have stiff soles. Only slight criticism that could be levelled at them is that the lugs are hard and don't grip too well when walking over wet rocks.
