Wow this was tough, a lot of climbing over the expected rocky terrain. Loved the technical downhill stuff.

Good to see Gauteng riding treating you better now.

Can I come to you for lessons on technical downhill stuff.

Go live in the Cape and ride Hoogekraal and Welvanpas and your skills will be honed. I still got off a few times! One of the two girls from B batch had a nasty crash on a downhill. I see on Twitter that Cherise Stander had a fall and the girl who came third also posted a picture of a bad gash in her arm.

thoroughly enjoyed this one and yes it's definitely the toughest USN race - that's why I'll be back next year. really liked the rocky climbs and descents.

strangely enough my gps also not working first 5km. in the end I got 860m ascent and my riding partner 909m over the full distance (50km race, which as 46/47km or something).

Also had GPS problems with my TomTom, anyone got an explanation for this?

Was the ANC having a breakfast conference at the venue by any chance?

I fell in the muddy river at 17km after knocking my bars against that cement fence, so thanks to all the people who observed "Fall in the mud?". Since I was coated from waist down it was fairly obvious.  Dont think starting that race cold was a good plan, better to warm up. Hope I feel stronger at Clarens next weekend, this was a sufferfest.

You should have done the 75km Cradle race as a warm up for Clarens. It was a tough ride!

Hey.... after MULTIPLE crashes, I never leave home without at least my knee pads. Massive confidence booster! Specially on those awesome rocky downhill bits.... what a rush!

Well I must be honest, this was the toughest one so far, but most definitely the most fun! Those hell hills were worth the amazing downhill rewards!

These races just get better and better!

And to make it even better, I got to meet Cherise Stander... that was pretty damn awesome! What a cool person!

I paced myself better with this one from the start, so ended stronger with that last climb. Damn chain came off between spokes and sprocket once, lost 2min there, but still did a good race for me with a 2:20. The 50km turns out to be a 44km according to my Garmin with 847m climbing.

There was a guy with a single speed which I rode with most of the race, damn, respect for that!!! He climbed all the climbs standing all the way, no other way of getting the gears to turn haha.

Haha,

I was behind you, saw you get out of the Mud / sewerage. Always good to laugh at other peoples expense! Until it happens to you!

Was a good race! Loved the technical sections and drop offs.

The back climb after the water works plant entrance had a nice bite to it.

Only RANT, why doesn't USN give out any race packs at these events? Note even a water bottle with some supplement testers in it - Bit stingy if you ask me...

What was everyone's recorded route distances? The 44km recorded by Kraggie doesn't seem right. Could the course really have been off by 6km's?

Normally at the number collection by Epic Sports there is a USN table... I got a couple samples there with every race and even a free water bottle with Cup #2's number collection
