Lukep Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I took my bike in for a full service in January the fork and the shock were sent to omnico for a full service.3 weeks ago I started hearing a clicking and creaking noise coming from the front of the bike.I checked the usual stuff headset,stem, top cap took all off cleaned and reinstalled bolts torqued etc. Noise still there took the bike back to my lbs and they told me it is a common issue on the fox forks and it needs to go back to omnico to be replaced.Is this a common issue and can it be fixed?

ichnusa Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 It is common for freaking Fox forks to creak between the crown and upper (anodised / Kashima coated) legs.... a factory fault (so common), but they get away with it 1 year after purchase.

Aaron_B Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Common problem with the CSU - crown steerer unit. It's the creaking part. Had the CSU replaced 4 times under warranty. Ended up getting a RockShox instead. problem solved.
Samurai Pizza Cat Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 I've got the 2014 34 CTD. The creaking is the least of my problems. Just not a great product.Fox still makes some great forks including the 36 and the 40, but you'll have to go a long way to convince me to ride a 34 again.

If the FIT damper packs up, a service should sort it out. When last did you have it done? At worst it's the bladder that's gone, which is a service part, although then you'd have no damping at all. As for the CTD EVO issue you mention, it doesn't apply to the OP's fork - he's got the Factory version with the FIT cart. A cold sixer says it's the CSU - and if it's out of warranty he's in for a new CSU unless your LBS can convince the agents otherwise.
