Is this a crack on carbon frame?

While cleaning the bike I noticed this "crack" that I can't clean. When you run your nail across it you can feel it. Is this normal for a carbon fork or should I take it to shop for a warranty claim? There is 2 lines on the top of the fork. Frame is a year old.

Mate you need to have that checked out. You cant take a chance with that. It wasnt there when you bought the bike. Something is up. Beteer safe than sorry.

Looks to me like a gel coat crack.  Press with something on the crack to see if it gives, or tap with something on the frame and crack to see if the sound changes pitch.  If not, I would not worry about it.

That is a difficult place for them to get the carbon neat so it is possible that the carbon was uneven and that's just caused the coating to crack a bit (guessing here, but I have seen some rough finishes on carbon forks around there).

If see a guy lying next to the road with a Venge tomorrow at Emperors then it was a crack and I will be getting a new bike.

Was that fork resprayed? Why is there so much paint on the steerer? I know it is hidden in the headset, but I can't believe Specialized would have such crappy masking.

If you don't mind the hijack buddie, but I have the same question. Is this a crack?

Also a Venge.

Yours looks to straight to be a crack but may be a split.

Think I will do the sound test tomorrow with a 10 pound hammer after the race.
