Beaulieu Country Estate Discriminating Against Cyclists

Does the residents also have to use the turnstiles when they go out cycling?

No - they get access cards.

That's why they pay the exorbitant rates to live in these areas.

Stop acting so damned entitled - are you from the EFF???

Find another road to ride on!

Geez!

The cr@p some people find to complain about!

When you can afford to buy in these areas, you do so for the peace these boom gates offer you.

Respect these peoples rights also.

All I read here is me, me, me, me, me, me....

Ride around - you are on a bike for a reason after all - to get exercise.

Go the long way around and get some more miles in your legs.

And consider also that the primary function of this area is that it is an EQUESTRIAN friendly area - not many of those in JHB. You ever have to contend with a spooked pony? Pretty dangerous.

FrankieKnuckles, actually it's a public road going through there, so respect everyone's right to use it to get from A to B within reason. I'm not going to argue the merits of what a individual can afford or not or how any cyclist need to exercise their legs to ride around the estate. If you don't like living in a boomed off area with a public acces road, move to a location where only residents and their vistors have access. Simple as that.

That is actually the one little detail that people like Nonky and Knurckles tend to overlook .

Sorry for the ignorance, but am I understanding this correctly? Are people forcing other people to damage their own property and forcing them to put themselves in danger to ride on a public road? If so, how well will you respond if I put thorn bushes on the N1 that scratches your car because I want to keep lions from entering my farm from a neighbours farm?

Do you fill in the visitors book every time you pass the boom or do you just ride through?

A motorcyclist has to fill in the book and they open the boom and the spikes drop?

It is illegal to make you fill in book in order to access public road.

I have a high court summons to similar effect from a bored lawyer that my security supplier in our boomed offended !

Have to love the mind set !

A few cyclist are ride so offend them all and possibly that bored legal type , not thinking it though and a disservice to their client !

That said some respect for guards is in order as they also keep you safe when riding in / though area !

I believe that booms over a public road are also illegal

Not if approval is obtained from JRA

This approval may be withdrawn should there be public complaints of non compliance

Quite a bit of arrogance in your reply.Guess it must be nice to be rich and mighty :whistling:  :whistling:

Surely if it's an open public road they can't force cyclist to get off their bikes.

Who will cover damages if the cyclist falls while carrying their bike or if the bike is damaged in the turnstile
