Night Riding Lights

Jinga

Recommended Posts

Did my first Night Ride last night and what an experience.

I took along a normal head lamp which just did not cut.

Any recommendations/suggestions on reasonably price lights.

Thanks

If your prepared to wait a while for shipping look at aliexpress.com or lightmalls.com (everything comes from there anyway) but the lights are MUCH cheaper and I have yet to have any problems and have bought from both shops.

They in china/hong kong but I think they literally do send it via ship........

Locally extreme lights is your best bet and they are on the hub!

When the battery pack goes faulty...you charge till the green lights indicating fully charged...but when you plug in the light in it stays on for 2 seconds then switches off...it could be just charging unit on the battery pack...i removed the batteries...purchased a weatherproof enclosure which also has battery condition indicator...and a usb plug for charging the go pro or phone.

The other bonus is if you own an iphone...this unit can charge your phone when it goes flat at lunch time [emoji57]

You replace the batteries at R40 each x 4 instead of replacing the whole pack for R400 +

I ordered lights from DealExtreme in China and got a notification after a week that they weren't allowed on the plane because of the batteries. I don't think the package is even on a proper ship, but rather a rowboat or maybe one of those Chinese junks. It's been two months already.

Have 3 of their lights and just replaced a battery pack on my original light that I have been using for 4 years consistently.

If your lights are charged they make a useful option for lighting during load shedding too :whistling:

There's also a new company called Jet Beam. Their lights look interesting, anybody use them? I'm looking for something with a widish, but more focused beam with a longer reach to use on the road. Magicshine has one but it's a bit pricey. Any suggestions.

What setup do you guys suggest for something like the 36One? Will the Extreme Lights XP3 running on a combination of Mid\Low do the job?
