So Richie Porte  and Clark both get a 2 min penalty in the Giro because the OGE rider gave mechanical assistance to the Sky rider. Against UCI rules.

S2C is CSA sanctioned (am I correct? As it is CSA sanctioned it must use UCI regulations?) . Could I have got a penalty for assisting a none team member?

{Hypothetically obviously, I know the UCI does not care much for the back markers in the S2C trail.}

These rules apply to the Elite field. . We are always informed not to give any mechanical assistance to any elite rider.. nada niks, not even a bomb.

Can someone explain the general sexist themes going on here? Always stop for women? Are all female riders really that helpless?

I know much of this was said in jest, but I can't help but think many of you guys are being completely serious about this.

Definitely no, but if you see the missus standing next to the road - please please stop...

I tried teaching & she is one of the brightest people I know - so she know what should be done, but don't give her a tyre lever or tube to work with.. she is a danger to herself and other riders :)

I make sure she have the tools and spares that are required (Got it wrong once or twice over the years though)

You need to ride with some friends with better eyes if you are having problems determining if the Auntie is hot....

If there's steam rising off her helmet and it's the middle of summer she's probably hot. Also if she flies past you on you favorite descent looking cool as a cucumber she's probably pretty hot on the bike.

If there's definition between her ankles and Calves, that's also a good spoiler that the damsel may in fact be hot.

I got a PM:

Hi NixM

I stumbled upon your post earlier and the story sounds very familiar! My friend *****(fairly big guy) suffered a broken hanger on day 2 and had his "bacon saved" by a very kind lady rider... This was his first stage race btw so I think he was ill-prepared - hopefully lesson learned. Apparently he now knows how to repair and had it fixed that night plus took a spare along for day 3.

******* is honestly one of the nicest guys you will meet, and I can only assume he just didn't think to get your details in the circumstances.

cheers

My response:

I figured someone would know him.

Tell him I am happy he is okay and I am glad he got to finish!, But to not carry an Allen key is really not very bright. And his partner also not very bright to abandon him!

I don't want the hanger back tell him to carry it on him and maybe one day he can also help someone out.

Regards
