Having has 3 bikes stolen from my garage I am looking for ideas on how to improve my bike security. I am thinking of a cage within the garage but welcome ideas and suggestions.

I am considering bolt into wall or floor of my garage with a heavy duty chain wrapped around frame and both wheels

I would also like to know suggestions. Bike room is currently being built, I would like the bikes to sleep in it safe and secure from cape towns rampant bike thieves.

Use a 12mm anchor into concrete for each bike and a thick chain + discus lock.

If that doesn't stop them nothing will. At the end of the day if they want it they will find means to take it, nothing is a match for a cordless angle grinder, crowbar with a pipe or a 10 pound hammer.

The trick is to remove the temptation, ie bikes not visible from the outside and not actively advertised outside or around the property. At the end of the day, insure them properly and make sure the security they are protected with when stored will allow the insurers to pay out no hassle if they are filched. There is not much else you can do.

Consider putting a couple of passives in that room and hooking them up to the alarm - make it a 24 hour zone maybe - with a keyswitch to disable it at the door.

Does the answer not present itself in keeping them out of the garage? Your normal Wispeco won't keep them out but can that be proofed somehow?

Bikes live in the house. Garage doors too easily forced. Once they are inside they have time and privacy to destroy any bike securing gadgets.....keep the bikes elsewhere or make it harder to get into the garage than the next house with bikes in it.
