I did this same route a few weeks back with a tent strapped to my handle bars and a backpack with sleeping bag and food - part of a cycle from cape town through the Cederberg.

To do it in one stretch will be hell - those passes just outside of Mount Ceder were hell and I suffered big time - all be it I had a heavy load and was living off toppers and 2-minute-noodles while camping in the Various places along the route.

I don't understand why it's costing more than double then Dirtopia's 100 miler? and it's a moerse drive... I'm voting with my wallet and saying no thx.

Because you get a dinner afterwards, and a branded T-shirt with legit water points! What did you get at AMArider 100miler? And besides, Cederberg 100miler is much more fun than riding on an open gravel road. Have you seen the pics of riding in the Kouebokkeveld/Cederberge????

Have entered and accommodation sorted. This is a weekend, my wife and partners wife is joining and driving us, on their way to  Kalelo they can stop at Cerderberg Brewery and Cederberg Cellar.....lekkerrrrrr

Doing K2C as well, all good training for W2W and Tankwa Trek (already entered)

Secondly... STOP MOANING!!!! It cost money to get land permits to ride everywhere - this is largely a leopard conservatory, so riding here is once off in certain parts. People have to get paid to organize this event, water points cost money and its not a break even situation....someone wants to make something out of it too.......wouldn't you?????

Cederberg would probably be one of the most amazing rides you will ever have

I cannot wait for this one

Would be nice to read a race report after the race. How does it compare to the Transkaroo 240km up or down ride?

Are you also going up Skittles pass to get to Kaleo farm?

I don't think the price is too bad, if you compare it to similiar events. BUT I stand to be corrected, but I think the entire route is on open access provincial roads, very little permitting required. No less spectacular.

Attakwas 2015 was R630 for 122km won't be surprised if it hits R700 for 2016. This event is 162km at R850 plus the goodie bag, branded t-shirt, free supper everything you didn't get at amarider 100miler.

Secondly... STOP MOANING!!!!

Welcome to thehub - If a new race is very expenisve people will moan, that's as inevitable as Msholozi dodging prosecution - so stop moaning about people moaning  ^_^

Might still be tempted to do this in future despite the steep price (if only I had some people's seemingly unlimited budget for races...)

Enjoy!

I bought 3 x hotdogs and a Sterri Stumpy after the 100 miler = Cost R70.00 odd

I don't want another t-shirt to clean my bike with - I got tons

I used 1 water point as the 100 Miler so don't require "legit" what ever that even means" water points. How does that equate into charging double the price?

I can ride for free in beautiful areas around me, so should not have to pay extra for that.

Did it on my own yes, was really cool as the weather was stunning except the last day where I rode from OpDieBerg to Wellington and it was pissing rain and Ceres was freezing (Gydo Pass).  Saw no leopards as I most cycled from 5 am and finished by 15h00 ish

ok cool.

Re. Leopards I think they only appear at night, hence I'm asking if you encountered them during the night but I guess you didn't cause you wouldn't be replying to this thread now. ????

Did you just camp anywhere along the way?

As stated earlier in this thread Attakwas 120km for R750, same logistics applies. 800 entries Sold out already if I'm Not mistaken.

Cederberg 100 Miler = 160kms only 350 entries available & people are bitching about the price?

I suppose all big events today started out like this?
