Hoping for EBH to get the win and the sprinter Jersey away for Bouhanni.

MTN with two Jerseys in their first world tour race OF THE YEAR, now that would be something special, even if they don't go home with them on Sunday.

Fixed :stupid:

70km to go.

"Mercifully, the word from the finish line in Sisteron is that the sun has poked through the clouds and roads are dry, but the break and peloton are being drenched by rain as they enter the final 70 km of racing. 6:10 the gap."

Good news for the inevitable end sprint to decide today.

Talking about our fantasy league game. Am I the only one who refuses to choose any Astana riders for the Dauphine?

Nope, me too.

Anyway, in a race like the Dauphine I see more value in the young guns like the Yates brothers, Rohan Dennis, Alaphilippe, Bardet, etc. The only real senior GC guy I've got in my team now is Froome.

The big GC names are all too expensive, so you can only have a couple of them and then have to fill the rest of your team with no-names. If you go with cheaper youngsters, you can have a team with deeper potential and have the chance of them earning you points in 3 classifications (the yellow, polkadot and white jerseys).

The Dauphine is known for the up-and-coming future GC stars who want to make a name for themselves, because the really big names still have one eye on the TDF in less than a month and are really just using the Dauphine as a tune-up for the big show. So it gives the young bucks a chance for a big win (like what happened with Talansky last year).

I really enjoyed watching your favourite youngster (Julian) and mine (Wilco) jumping off the front yesterday. Made me think of the potential dual the two could have not only in France this year but for the future overall.

PS. I've arranged for the MPCC to come test you for cortisol, your team is too strong :whistling:

Time for the mountain goats to rattle the GC ladder!

It's gonna be tight between Tejay and Nibs.

Intriguing stuff.

Hopefully Teklehaimanot is rested enough can retain the dotted jersey.

It'll be tough.

The other lighty I've been watching closely since his breakout performance at Flanders is Tiesj Benoot. He's got the engine for the really long hard races (250km+) and now we've seen he can sprint too. He's had a great Dauphine so far and earned me a lot of points.

Tiesj is 21 and Julian is 22. Both are going to be brilliant classics riders, and I reckon we're going to see some great duels between them in the future.

Wilco (24) already has grand tour stage racing pedigree. We haven't yet seen if Alaphilippe does as well. Personally I think he's more suited to the classics and maybe the shorter stage races that don't have big climbs (as he said himself, Mount Baldy is only 8 km long, and was 1 climb in that stage at California and his competition was Sagan, not a mountain goat). I've got a feeling Julian is going to be shown up a bit in the big mountain passes these next few days.

Then again, I've been proved wrong so many times in the past :).

This might be a day for a strong puncheur who can climb to sneak into a break and go for a win. Because of the main GC riders hoping to keep their powder dry for tomorrow & Saturday. Someone like Tony Gallopin, who's won stages like this before.

In fact, since I dropped him from my fantasy league team last night, Murphys Law says that he probably will win today :).
