Time for the mountain goats to rattle the GC ladder!

It's gonna be tight between Tejay and Nibs.

Intriguing stuff.

Hopefully Teklehaimanot is rested enough can retain the dotted jersey.

It'll be tough.

I also thought the same, but I think if he(Daniel Teklehaimot) has rested a bit the last two days and if he joins break and get the first three at least he should be ok for today and tomorrow. MTN indicated that they will ride offensively for the jersey. So look for him today and then Jacques in the break tomorrow maybe to protect the jersey.

Not the biggest day of the Dauphine today, but at 4,300m of climbing that's a biiiiiig day for the rest of us mortals.

Start time is 10h25 (SA time).

I just checked and I'm wrong. This stage actually has the biggest vertical gain of the Dauphine.

Saturday might be the queen stage with more (and steeper) mountain passes, but they'll actually be doing more climbing today.

Friday: 3 050 m
Saturday: 3 850 m
Sunday: 2 660 m

Mountain passes for today:

Km 40: Col des Lèques (6 km @ 5.3% - Cat 3)

Km 67: Col de Toutes Aures (6.1 km @ 3.1% - Cat 3)

Km 96: Col de la Colle-Saint-Michel (11 km @ 5.2% - Cat 2)

Km 139: Col d'Allos (14 km @ 5.5% - Cat 1)

Km 161: PRA LOUP (6.2 km @ 6.5% - Cat 2)

For the GC guys, these pitches aren't steep enough for guys like Rodriguez or Valverde. More suited to climbing to your power metre numbers with teammates leading you up (climbing will be fast enough for drafting benefits). Stuff that Sky likes. And Astana too these days.

The final 36km today:

Daniel Teklehaimanot has gone on the attack. The Eritrean is currently in the mountain's jersey but with plenty of points available over the five climbs, he needs to add to his tally if he wants to keep it by the end of today.
