the problem with thule is the key numbers are printed on the locks, you can buy replacement keys very easily... simple to remove their locked racks..

How about getting the race organisers to jack up security. This is not the first even and wont be the last to be hit. My mind goes back to the Old Durbanville HS race last year now the Derby Dash I think. Bikes and bike racks stolen from the car park at the venue. Maybe Thule can design a tracker to fit into it..

Let them laugh!

Agreed, my mate parked at the winter fast one and some tool decided to drive into the bike rack, bent it up a little and did some damage to the bumper but looking at it I would expect that the said tool's car would have come off second best.

And before it gets said, it was not sticking out into the road / path / track, this person obviously had to swerve to avoid a pedestrian or cyclist walking in the path in order to hit it.

I know of at least 3 (top end) bikes that were lifted from Meerendal on the final day of the Epic.

Not saying it's Meerendal's fault - but I do see a trend...

Today I almost got collect by a red taxi with a bike rack on the back at Manard Mall, and not a cheap jobie either, was rather jealous to be honest. Thule, 2 bike rack platform based.

Before anyone suggests I should have gone Rambo on him, it was taxi, with about 5 okes inside.

Not that its a surprise but the number plate did not match the taxi (Duh)

Its quite sad that there were parking attendants at Meerendal on Saturday as well and the rack still got stolen. Guess i was lucky when I arrived home I noticed mine wasn't even locked onto the car the whole time we were there.

How dare you insinuate that they stole it!

Been wondering how long it would take for the high end racks to get relocated... I have 1m tensile cable with 2 loops and one of those square locks, attached to the recovery hitch of the vehicle. Also use it on the wife's horsebox, as those also get lifted at horse shows. If it ain't bolted down, chances are it will walk.
