Hi Hubbers

I want you opinion, what are the best road bike choices out there for a road bike between R30K and R40K?

I am looking for full carbon, Ultegra group set, with 38mm Carbon rims (if possible).

The Black Spade Racing bike looks like a good option but want your views on any other options I have....

Thanks

For that price range you can definitely get a second hand bike with full carbon, dura ace or sram and deep section rims. What size are you looking for?

52cm...

But will be financing part of it so it will need to be a new purchase...

Don't finance a bike ....save up a bit longer ... for relatively lil money you can buy second hand full carbon fibre bikes with 105 components and decent wheels (or ultegra for that matter)

First let the Hubbers try help before you finance!

What is your current cash budget. I bought my first bike on the hub full carbon with ultegra for R10k!! Good deals come up the whole time! Especially on a 52cm frame, they don't sell quickly so prices are often good!

new, in that price range there is a lot. I was looking a few months back and came across many bikes. You will also be able to get 2015 models at a reduced price now as everyone is making room for 2016 models.

go through this... Spend 25-30k on a frame and keep the rest for wheels.

Dont know much about carbon wheels, but came across Darkhouse when browsing. 11k gets you a new set.

To all the guys telling him not to finance a bicycle - mind your own fkng business. It's his choice, he's not asked you for your opinion on finance, he's asked for your opinion on which bike to go for.

If credit is treated appropriately there's no reason whatsoever that it can't be applied to a bicycle.

For R26 - 28k you can get a brand new Merida Reacto 5000 with exactly the specs you want.

Ultegra 11 speed (52/36 and 11/28)

Full carbon

38mm aero wheels (not sure of carbon or alu)

You will NOT find better value anywhere else.

Most probably alu at that price range. Even the Light Bicycle rims cost R 10k for a build.

You have a point. My apologies.

OP: Buy the bike that will make you ride most :)
