dave303e Posted August 4, 2016 Share WAA Ultra MDS opens up big time. That pack is designed and is the official pack for marathon des Sables and has a lovely front pouch, great for accessing things on the go...http://www.waa-ultra.com/en/backpack/68-ultrabag-20l-mds.html Otherwise the Outthere AS 3 is pretty decent as well and used by many AR athletes...http://outthereusa.com/as-3-backpack/
MTBeer Posted August 4, 2016 Share i used a salomon minum 30 backpack, really great pack. Bought it at the Salomon store in Canal Walk.this also looks good. Can zip open completely. http://media.salomon.com/products/L37537300.jpg
dave303e Posted August 4, 2016 Share this also looks good. Can zip open completely. http://media.salomon.com/products/L37537300.jpg there are better packs from Salomon for this. Remember you are going to need to access food a lot, like every hour or so, and that has no front pockets, things like compass needs to be near by, and you don't want to hav to pull bag off every time. dirtrider Posted August 4, 2016 Share Have to agree that the bag does not look like the right one for the job . Front storage space is very important .

Shebeen Posted August 4, 2016 Share Have to agree that the bag does not look like the right one for the job . Front storage space is very important .it's a nice to have, but not the end all. lots of nice frame options for kos these days, and not just a triathlong bag on the stem anynmore either. can recommend the Osprey range too, really committed local support adventureInc http://www.ospreypacks.com/za/en/category/hydration/?trip-length=20-39L%20(All%20Day)
dirtypot Posted August 4, 2016 Share I've got a K-Way Kilimanjaro 35 pack - would this work? It has many accessible pockets and storage areas, zips most of the way open, is pretty comfy and stays dry when it rains. http://durban.getitonline.co.za/wp-content/uploads/sites/96/2014/05/K-Way-Kilimanjaro-35-Daypack-R999.jpg
dirtrider Posted August 4, 2016 Share I like lots of smaller pockets . No scratching around for stuff but then again go and look at the bag Fanus used this year . Think it was made from brown beaver hide with a solid steel frame for support . Worked for him .

johannrissik Posted August 4, 2016 Share Stop deflecting...what we'd like to know is how you knew the origin of the hide.
