Junior Tour ladies-Fiasco-Michelle Corbet

I see Michelle Corbett won the ladies Junior Tour. I was looking at the photos online of the event and you can see that she is clearly being assisted by one of the Mr Price Boy's Juniors who are pushing her up the hill. According to my knowledge of cycling rules that is a definite no-no. She should in my opinion be disqualified as she did not win the race on her own steam. If you view the picture carefully you will see that Mr Price has been pushing already for a long time as you can see the strain in his forearm muscles. The cycling gurus let?s hear what you have to say.

it depends on what the situation there is..like for instance the mister price rider couldnt keep the wheel in front of him or at one way or another left a gap to the rider up front..its only sportmanly and proffesional to give the rider behind you a slight push or even "madison style" throw to the rider up front again.

remember the pic of arno viljoen going up dutoitskloof holding onto a truck? (did we know at the time that he actually never even started that morning's stage?)

my point: give this thing a day or two - i believe this pic is not representing the facts - perhaps some of the riders around the lady - who might be on teh hub - might comment - i believe it was take on the crit stage after the lapping had occurred and the race was "over?"

Latrinus - there should be buildings on the crit stage? Looking at the lighting and grassland -  it looks like stage 1 on the way to the finish.  I know the issue was raised with the officials by the other ladies - reply was that nobody saw it.

mmmm, let's then see whether the proper procedures will be followed....

written complaints, directed to race commissaire, etc.

It looks like there is a kerb in the background - which is where the crit is held. Also if they were trying to "cheat" why would the Mr Price guy be pulling her next to where a car is parked?

if action is taken surely it should be against the two (pusher & pushed or pulled & pulley?)

After all, it takes two to tango

I agree with you hubbers, Michelle should be disqualified.

That is why the ladies should never be allowed to race with the guys.

It is also common knowledge that the Mr Price Junior Guys were specifically entered for the event in order to be Michelle's support structure in the race-which is obviously a huge advantage for Michelle and a big disadvantage for the other ladies. It is plain to see that she was supported by the Mr Price guys by looking at all the photos. Where ever there are photos Mr Price is with her. A bit suspicious me thinks.

Also Mr Price boys pulled back to help Michelle back into the bunch after she got a puncture. That stinks. Mr Price should also be rapped over the knuckles as well as Konica Minolta for stooping to such low tactics.

The Photos are available at www.mardo-photo.co.za under the gallery section, scroll down to functions click on junior tour 29&30march. There are hundreds of pictures. ref no of photo is Photo Number: 1207132096JT 30_03_08_6316 which is about 25% down the page.
