Unfortunately cyclists are well known for chest thumping and FIGJAM type of stuff. Runners tend to be a lot more down to earth, and do their sport for the sheer fun and enjoyment of it.

The Comrades 2016 part puts of the Strava club puts me off a bit. Do not have any aspirations or inclinations to ever do a marathon or an ultra. Happy to run as hard as I can for fun up to half marathons

this is me...happy to do 21km.  Do enjoy trail running lot more than road tho (maybe cos then I have an excuse to walk.."oh look at that view/bird/snake" without getting the WHHAAATT walking look that one gets on the road .. ^_^

Hahahaha, well at comrades you don't need an excuse to walk.

Indeed.   A simple example for me was cyclists do not greet on the road, not here anyways.  Do not even waste to time as a runner to greet a cyclist in the morning hours...

Anyone else noticed that this is one of the busiest threads here on the hub

The revolution is real  :whistling:

Yup

I see our local parkrun has exploded with numbers.  So much so, they are talking about two more parkruns for Bloem.

This is fantastic for the sport.  More so because it caters for everybody, big and small, BIG and small, young and old, moms with prams, everybody.    Excellent for people to be health and fitness conscience.

I often run in the Cradle, where there are lots of cyclists. They don't greet. I think it is all the unfit ones... it takes too much energy to just nod or say hi...

Will consider the Two Oceans Ultra for my 50th Stretchy...cos then I can claim insanity. ^_^

Everyone greets everyone here because we all know each other, the joys of a small town.

After my frame broke at Wines2Whales, my first thought was "at least I cant break my takkies"..!

Candz to the rescue!

I'll pick a fight with anyone who revs you! (Just like old edirt days! )

Also no further Comrades aspirations for me since running a marathon and feeling how my knees 'enjoyed' that experience!

Are there no other ladies on theHub that are running???

Think there are more ladies that run. They just not part of the group and their runs are set to private.

I would highly recommend it, it is such a beautiful race. I would definitely get my permanent number for Two Oceans.
