the post nasal drip....this time last year I got knocked down with flu...and ever since then I have been on and off having post nasal drip. Been keeping it kind of in check with ACC200. Then started with Texa 10 antihistimene tablets about a week ago and I swear it is making an improvement...which obviously makes sense because one of the big causes of PND is allergies...and it is allergy time

as for the me...My first week back with daily runs and my legs are definitely tired. I usually do the very hilly Kearsney Striders 21k (which is on Sunday)..but with it being the first real week back and my PF still lingering...I am gonna give it a skip and do some fun orienteering running on Saturday.

Lexx - how is the ankle?

My ankle is still little bit tender, but not to sore anymore, will have to do a long run tomorrow, will see how it goes. Thanks Stretch

How much sleep are you getting Andrew? Is it quality sleep through the night or disrupted? (Lets build out a bigger picture)

I've got a 1.5yr old... so on average I would say I am up twice a night to make a bottle. She's not the easiest on our sleep for sure, some nights can definitely be a bit rough. But I do probably still get on average about 7 hours - I'm good about going to bed earlier when training. Most nights around 9:30/10pm

Read through the post twice again and my impression is that it would seem like you have not fully recovered from whatever December threw at you! You're probably going to be forced to pick between trying to continue training through this and it taking far longer to get fully over it, or ease back a bit, readjust some training and race expectations and get over this properly!

Leaning towards this I think... It actually wasn't that long ago that I was sick, and now getting back to work, training etc Maybe I was just a bit too eager to get cracking. Gonna do a slow easy 6km this afternoon and see how I really feel. Took some anti-histamine this am, seems to certainly have helped.

Texa Allergy can be taken every day and is very effective Andrew.  Not sure how you feel about natural remedies but you couldnt do any harm by taking Moringa.  It certainly helps my recovery but then im not doing the distances you guys do, but I swear by it.

Saline solution through the nose.  Gargle with salt water.  Andolex C for a sore throat.  Echinaforce drops. Daily allergy tablets if need be, texa, allerway, ect.  Or a Phenergan to dry up the nose.

If I feel trouble on the horizon, I add Imuneace tablets for immune system.   They help me a lot

I think you haven't recovered from being sick and waking up for a baby is not proper sleep. Maybe you should rest this weekend, not much you can do now to prepare you for Johnson Crane.

I stopped all vitamins for about 3 months now to see if it caused my nausea. I feel tired in the afternoons at work so I think I need to start taking supplements again.

So, what is your normal pre-marathon weekend training like? I am running a 15km tomorrow and a 10 or 12km on Sunday. Most of next week I will be resting, probably be running a total of 12km for the week before Johnson's.

Plan was 15km Sat and Sun and then my usual Tuesday and Thursday 8km... will maybe just run once this weekend, will go with how I'm feeling etc and make a call. After Johnsons I can take a week off if still not feeling quite right

Good theme running through the suggestions so far! I'd like to add one other thing to consider!

Schedule some power naps for this weekend! If you get a gap to do a quick 40min plus snooze somewhere in the day, take it! Most useful if you do it when you get back from your run after you've cleaned yourself up!

If i nap in the afternoon i can't fall asleep before 1am that night.

I was the same when I was a sleep paddawan myself! heading towards Jedi status now and I've almost mastered the art of a day time sleep and still falling into bed pre 10pm! It's so decadent!
