Andrew Steer Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I can't be the only one that has to worry about this, suffer with me buggers... Eish Soon
Jackes Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Eish Soon With training idling whilst my wife is trying to sort out her ITB and me trying to get rid of this sinusitus/cold of the last 3 weeks, it's too soon...
Lexx Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I am currently being the worst dad in the world. My son started to get sick Saturday Morning, and yesterday it went to his lungs and now he has a nasty cough. So my first reactions is, I chose the single seater couch in the living room, and push it 2-3m further away from where the family is sitting. My waterless hand-cleaner right next to me. And as quickly as I did it, the death stares started from my Boss Lady.. But its ok, only 9 more weeks then I will be part of family circle again. But as long as there are bugs in our circle, I'm Out!! Hacc, EmJayZA, CobusV and 5 others 8

Mntboy Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 No offense taken. I am ok-ish on the bike. I need to ride more. On Saturday in the Cradle, I missed my bike. So much easier cycling there than running there.Ummm actually I was more worried that my sense of humour and the interwebs was working together for once. It doesn't always hey. Actually come to think of it, it almost never does. Your times you set was fast enough to chick me - more a reflection on me I know but still good times in all honesty. For us here in the deep south of the Cape I reckon those that run and cycle would definitely prefer running through Kalk Bay than cycling it. Running through there is safer than cycling imho! Stretch Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 hahaha... I'm still debating wearing a mask on the plan to Comrades I have a kenyan airways flight at the end of April..might mask myself for that!. Fortunately, where I stay breakfast consists of every conceivable fruit known to man - so i will get my annual allotment of Vitamin C in that week! Mntboy, Andrew Steer and Lexx 3

Hacc Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 My colleagues know that if they make me sick they have to go train for me (I work with youngsters that drink a Monster / Red Bull for breakfast and can't climb a flight of stairs) My family also knows no hugs or kisses from March onwards to Comrades. They have made peace with that. I am very cautious, to be honest, I am even scared of going to the gym. Lexx 1
Jackes Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 With omtom two weeks away it seems I can't extend this any further. It seems antibiotics is unavoidable, this is infection stages. Any thoughts with two weeks out?
Lexx Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 With omtom two weeks away it seems I can't extend this any further. It seems antibiotics is unavoidable, this is infection stages. Any thoughts with two weeks out? That sucks. Hopefully you will feel 100% again before OMTOM
Stretch Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 With omtom two weeks away it seems I can't extend this any further. It seems antibiotics is unavoidable, this is infection stages. Any thoughts with two weeks out?there is a rule about anti-biotics before endurance events..just not sure what the time is. Doc should tell you sucks
Hacc Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 With omtom two weeks away it seems I can't extend this any further. It seems antibiotics is unavoidable, this is infection stages. Any thoughts with two weeks out?I agree with Stretch, ask the doctor about running and the antibiotics. My training partner was on antibiotics and missed ODD. Two days after he finished his antibiotics he ran a 30km without any problems. He did ask his GP how long he should wait.
Mr Winter Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 there is a rule about anti-biotics before endurance events..just not sure what the time is. Doc should tell you sucks I've also heard of horror stories where some doctors allow you to run while on anti-biotics but forget to mention that cramping is a side effect of said anti-boitic
Andrew Steer Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 With omtom two weeks away it seems I can't extend this any further. It seems antibiotics is unavoidable, this is infection stages. Any thoughts with two weeks out?Obviously chat with the doc, but if you are finished with the anti-biotics (usually a 5 day course) and feeling 100% (check your heartrate - it will let you know for sure) then you can still most likely run... Don't wait any longer though, see the doctor today. Golden rule though - you have to be 100% healthy when on that start line - no if's/but's... it's just a race at the end of the day Hacc and ScottCM 2
Andrew Steer Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I've also heard of horror stories where some doctors allow you to run while on anti-biotics but forget to mention that cramping is a side effect of said anti-boiticThere's also one that literally reduces the flexibility of tendons/cartilage.... I don't care if you are dying, as a sportsmen or any kind of active person, avoid it like the plague
Hacc Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 I think you must go to the doc asap to get antibiotics. See how you feel a week before OMTOM.Most importantly listen to your body... We all struggle with that.It is so dangerous running an ultra while being sick/ on antibiotics, it is really not worth it.I agree with Andrew, at the end of the day it is just a race.
