All these numbers being thrown around scares me. Im on about 480km, after missing the whole of March. Im running again, slowly. Will see how the weekend long run goes.

Don't stress on everybody else's numbers. Just focus on your build up and progress.

it has already been discussed here, but the spread of mileage is huge. Some guys will do around 1000km and others will run 3000km to do sub 7h.

Each to his own, pick your goal and target and let the rest take care of itself.

Good luck

Quick question for all the Comrades runners. What is your total distance year to date? And what are you aiming for?

Will hit 1200kms today, looking to finish between 2050-2150 depending on my niggles and build up.

I will be happy with anything under 9hours. I'm focusing on Quality sessions rather than very high mileage. ATM im on 1413km. Prob end up on 1900-2000km. Its actually very strange territory for me,seeing that I have never felt this good and strong. So im a little bit scared of making any predictions. Will just see how I feel on the day.

No Chance, I've done some strava stalking and you should be sub8 this year... sub8.30 on a bad day.  Your training is going a hell of a lot better than mine so far

????

I like your strategy

Treat comrades as one quick quality session

Mooi man????

Would end April be to late to start working on quad's for the down run?

I don't know the answer to that.. But I did zero gym sessions on my one and only down and my quads were destroyed by the time I got into Durban that they could not operate. It cost me at least 10 minutes. That said..I run downs hard. Any work is better than no work I would say

Thanks Ferret, I'm really enjoying my running this year, prob because I'm using a good coach that is really pushing me. Nah, you are def on track for a good silver again. You and Stu, jeez, you guys run super fast times.

Will start tapering middle next week so the mileage will be dropping. Lol.

I was also a bit surprised,it's only Wednesday and Saturdays that I use for long runs. But the Hill Repeats and Speed Sessions is actually making up alot of miles...

Yeah I know your coach well, also not afraid of some Decent Mileage..

Stu is a machine at the moment, me not so much. Had a very average Two Oceans and suffering this year with a lot more niggles than usual. Not sure if its still stemming from the Femur break but its pretty frustrating.

Haven't done a 100km week since late Feb..

Good Grief... I guess I am in a completely different league.

I am sitting on 560km at the moment. Hoping for between 900 and 1000km.

This is just not my year, I have made peace with that. Hoping for a finish at the moment.

Andrew, my distance on Oceans was 57km. I see most people on Strava are at least 1 km out.

It threw out my bus driving skills at the end as I was doing my calculations on 56km all the time.

PS. I hope this forum can produce at least 3 silvers and a couple of BR's this year!! Should we start betting?

I had a great run at Irene this morning.

With a sick kid at home and little sleep I decided to just keep to 6min/km

After a slow very crowded and dark start I actually felt very strong. At the 10km mark a friend from our running group caught up to me after he also started late. He is 3h marathoner but was planning to take it easy .

I kept up with him and then I started doing the maths that if can keep up the pace I should be able to do a 4:24 for a C comrades seeding.

I gave my all my but missed it with 5min.

But I’m still extremely pleased
