Benoni XCO/Pomp Track!

Yes - I said pomp track.

So my good friend Wayne Potgieter finally kicked my arse into building that XCO/Pomp track I've always been threatening too...

Here is the start.

Thanks have to go to Wayne as well as Higel Hicks who used his world class DH skills to design a piddly little track in Benoni. I've had to modify the design a bit because of swamped areas and some building work we've done but it essentially a Nigel Hicks signature course (and that's damn well what it's gonna say in the advertising!!!).

Thanks also to The Dipster who kindly donated (and delivered) a truck wheel/tyre for dragging round the place to bed it down nicely.

Once we're done I'll throw out invites for a hub day.
This is never going to be a public access / paid admissions park. Just something for me, my buddies and customers to fark around on.

It'll be around 400m long with a bunch of obstacles, jumps, barrel table top, dead tree ride over, rythm section, veggie garden wall ride, the rattler and anything else my brain (or yours) can come up with.

My one and only rule, as always, is NO DICKS.

Progress!

And I've found out how to post pics :-)

First obstacle in place and track starting to take shape...the wooden table top may look familiar to some - it's from a "how to break bones" thread right here on thebikehub!

Nice one Brada!!!!!!

Hope I get to crack the invite list one day - the `No Dicks` rule seems to be aimed very carefully!!!

Looks awesome mate - keep the kiki`s coming!!!

You're an exceptional dick sir! You're welcome :-)

@chukky. Yeah...maybe I should rethink that one....

End of day 2. Bobcat broke down at lunch time so not too much progress. We did put in a baby log double with 3 different entries and bedded in a lot of the "down" section.

Day 3 will be finishing the rhythm section, big bottom berm and flattening the full course.

Day 4 will be course flattening, polishing and installing the final obstacles (if all goes to plan).

Blisters are getting baby blisters and the back is in trouble :-)

Slowly but surely a track emerges from the grass! The truck tyre/wheel didn't work as a dragging object so it's going seconded into use as an obstacle on the rhythm section :-) Thanks Dips!

Wayne will be bringing a load of rocks over so game on for the rock garden.

@swiss - if you're a large then I have a selection of bikes for you. Hmm  you're a medium right? I'm sure we'll find someone who would let you smash their brand new Cube Stereo 160 (hint hint) round the track a few times - 1 beer per lap until you break something!

A lap is going to be ~450m at this rate - lots of short cuts and multi use berms to keep it interesting. It will be a reversible track but the jumps and pumps will only really be fun going anti clockwise.

Lekker man. Are mere mortals from the north allowed to break out the passports and join for a wee sesh?
