Why buy a Specialized Roubaix

Brendan Vogt

Recommended Posts

As a heavier rider (+100kg) i wish i had a Roubaix.

I have a Cannondale Evo Supersix which is a great bike but last year I did the Tour De Stellenbosch and it was a terriable road to cycle.

My butt and body took a major beating.

The Roubaix would have been a great bike for such an event.

Oddly enough 1 of the guys I cycle got a Roubaix that week and he had no complaints.

If you google Sportive bikes, one will see why. The Giant Defy and most brands models are their best selling. They are more comfortable than pure racing machines and easier on the body over longer distances. Really, the bikes that 95% of us should be riding instead of silly race snake bikes.

Also have a Roubaix, with hydraulic discs. I previously had a Tarmac, absolutely hated my tarmac. Got to the point where I used my mtb for road races instead of the Tarmac. Its just so uncomfortable. My Roubaix is just as comfy as my dual suspension 29er. I can ride it for days.

My first ever carbon road bike was Roubaix. Pro something..."zerts" and all.

With the geometry and seatpost angle and bb too far in front it always felt like riding a ice cream car...lol (and yes it was the right frame size)

Really not a Roubaix fan.

Makes me wonder if all "plush" bikes are like that? (Domaine ; Defy
