  Recalled Product:

This recall affects Cannondale mountain bikes produced between 2011-2015 with a Lefty front fork assembled with a component known as an "OPI Stem" and an "OPI Steerer." The OPI Steerer is being recalled. It is located inside the headtube and is not visible. The Lefty fork and the OPI Stem ARE NOT being recalled.

  • - OPI Stems are marked with the “OPI” logo in black with a white stripe above. OPI Stems look smooth and are rounded at the bike head tube.
  • - OPI Stems have no stem bolts, only 4 handlebar bolts.

Use the illustration above to identify a bike subject to recall.

Manufacturer / Importer:

Cycling Sports Group Inc., of Wilton, Connecticut.

Hazard:

OPI steerers affected by this recall have reduced fatigue life which could lead to breakage of the fork clamps or bolts over time. If that happened, a rider could lose control leading to an accident.

Remedy:

Consumers with a bicycle equipped with an OPI stem should immediately stop using the bicycle and contact the nearest Authorized Cannondale Bicycle Dealer. Cannondale Dealers will inspect the bicycle OPI stem and fork for any damage that may have occurred and fit the OPI stem steerer system with a reinforcement part and install new Lefty clamp bolts.

Since its from 2011 to 2015 product it stands to reason that long term testing has shown up a weakness. Glad to see there are companies who still do long term testing and don't hide behind the "its beyond fatigue life" excuse

You don't want to be worse off than you were..

Dude, specialized have an entire webpage dedicated to their recalls.... #FAILFRIDAY

hahaha. Whatever may be true, todays battle goes to Spez. 2011-2015 is a MASSIVE recall. It's Friday I'm going to say unqualified things like "Specialized has only ever recalled to give their customers BETTER, FASTER and MORE EXPENSIVE parts FOR FREE" cus that's how nice they are.

Also Lance is innocent, Impey is a cheater and Craft Beer isn't overpriced.  ;)

Have a good day guys!

Ok so that is why they are doing away with OPI on their 2016 MTB's as well as a shift in the position of the lefty so you can go with shorter stems if you want as well as sizes on their lefty's so it is possible to drop the handlebar seat angle

Yes, so your post of buying spez instead adds zero value.

Cannondale is doing a recall on their Flash, FSi , F-4, F-5, F-29, Lexi, RZ, Scalpel and Trigger. That's pretty much their ENTIRE line. When Spez does a recall of all their bikes produced over a 5yr period, I'll entertain you. Till then...

Buy a Specialized.

Edit: Spelling

Hmmmm.

Not to sure about that - they broke into a friends garage and stole the Dale and the Spez in there.

Two days later bought back the Spez but no sign of the Dale !!
