Spirog Posted September 22, 2015 Share So the EcoMobility Festival in Sandton has inspired me to try my hand at commuting. I've got about 12km from home to my office and I have a shower available. I need a backpack to carry my work clothes, towel, etc. Any suggestions? I'd rather not spend a fortune becuase i'm a little concerned that the experience of dodging taxi's in Sandton might not be as sexy as it sounds... J∆kk∆ls Posted September 22, 2015 Share Just a note. K-Way back packs are sturdy and they have a life time guarantee on their zips. Any Cape Union Mart will also repair any fair weather damage.
HappyMartin Posted September 22, 2015 Share Make sure it's waterproof or put your stuff securely into a big plastic bag in the backpack
Spinnekop Posted September 22, 2015 Share I am a HUGE fan of Oakley back packs.Mine is now close to 15 years old and still not a scratch or zipp issue.

cfcjim Posted September 22, 2015 Share I have an Oakley that's been all around the world and suffered some serious abuse; I bought it about 12 years ago. I thought a zip was stuck yesterday. But it wasn't. I also have a waterproof KWay with a raincover which I didn't attach properly and it nearly pulled me backwards off the bike when it became caught in the wheel Luckily it was dark and no one saw me. The KWay is excellent and has a curved back with a channel between the padding which helps with cooling airflow.

Have had mine for years and commuting in all weather, colours have faded but bag works as good as new
simpythegimpy2 Posted September 24, 2015 Share My thoughts: Crumplers are made for cycling and are basically indestructible. There are three in our household. Get a back rack if at all possible. Will make you safer because cars can see your bright bib and will make you sweat much less. Good luck. If you pick a quiet route I don't think you'll be back in your car anytime soon. Arrowhead Posted September 24, 2015 Share Also been looking for a decent commuter myself, I need it to hold my laptop in the week, my outdoor stuff on weekends, and be suitable for airport travel for work. I've looked at the thule enroute escort , and triumph 2. According to the salespeople at most stores, thule have an unlimited guarantee in their bags, which includes zips, stretchy pockets, and the bag itself. May be something to consider in the long run?
