I don't really see the point in taking shortcuts you are really missing the stoke of what it means to be out on your bike and experiencing the trails. To be honest I wouldn't even get worked up about it, its like taking short cuts to be KOM on Strava, it just means you are missing the essence of why we love to ride bikes. We need to stop taking ourselves so seriously and be nice to hayleyearth she is a lady.

Actually, I think you've pretty much answered my question. I was looking at "position" relative to the winner, where they are probably using "time" relative to the winner.

It's still an awesome feeling to PR positionally!

Ah yes, it happens to the best hey, haha. Glad to help!

That be true

Lol, so why do you Enduro guys time your runs then ?

Yes there was a wooden bridge with a gap jump and section with a single or double jump choice, some lekka berms. Really enjoyed riding it but I guess I should follow your advice and stay away from the next event.

See you already don't fit the enduro crowd... If it is all about strava and time... You are missing the point of enduro and maybe better suited at XC.

So did you guys ride a wooden jump? Or pass one on that sp3 trail then?

You forgot the hash tag. I don't think you're allowed to use the word without it - it's #Enduro.

Yes, I actually know people who have made it into the #Enduro club. They told me.

Okay I am probably opening myself up to a whole bunch of abuse here, but wtf with the lycra story.

As an ex roadie (of long ago) I have a whole cupboard of lycra bib shorts (mostly Liqui Moly sponsored) but good quality stuff, I am not going to bin that because I don't look tuff enuff!

I also tried those baggie thingymagafta's and I ended up with mud down me plumbers crack and kept catching them when I sat down after a stand-up.

Sod it - I will just have to look a gaylord in my babygrows   :whistling:

you can ride whatever the hell you want...hardtail / downhill bike / AM bike / CX bike. If you can ride the SP's fast, you can ride them. Anything goes. Did the last one and don't have any of the special kit. Safety kit however seems to be warranted(helmet with good coverage / some pads), our race got ended because we didn't have it but we did get to do all the stages between practice and race day. Very different atmosphere / gees from a marathon, both are lekker, just different.

I will report the three I saw tomorrow. Was waiting to check the results if there was a change. None till now. So to the first 3 finishers in Group G - you should have DNF. The woman's time would have placed her 5th in the A ladies overall.

I am sure there are many other riders who have also been dishonest. I will chat to the Advendurance guys and hopefully they can scan the finishing sheets and ID some more.

What's right is right...

Lol I am pretty cool with that - My partner in crime came in 4th in Group G and i came in 5th, so if these folk cheated then he gets first and I get second boooyaaa!

Half, Full or Fun race.... hell even the kiddies race! It doesn't matter, if they cheated they should be lynched at the very least. Pro or noob... they should be shamed

Ja well. I've sent my list through to SASeeding. I think MaxUmis and Roneblack46 will also be sending some names through. Will see what happens.

Lets hope for the best. If nothing happens, we will just have to take to social media and call them out publicly then. As an organiser, specially as the organiser of one of SA's biggest mtb series, they surely cant let this slide and just hide from it

Name and Shame

Hahaha. I think some names have already been mentioned on this thread and is part of the list I have sent through. It's not about Naming and Shaming for me but more about seeing people bleed on those hills just to finish the race and then these plonkers come along and either blatantly cheat on the route or do not even bother to DQ themselves at the finish.

Let's wait for Friday...

Profiles says shorter than it is actually.

You should all get:

61km

31km

etc.

Hakahana is considered the toughest in the series.

We needed to make the finishing times more inline and well this will be alot more enjoyable.

The fact that it's shorter brings it inline with the finishing times in the rest of the series.

We couldn't just cut 5km out or something, unfortunately.

The marathon now has a very nice flow to the finish. The half has less climbing and much less technical which had to be done to accommodate the level of riders who participate.

Hi Wessel,

What is the official response to the allegations of cheating in the Hakahana marathon? Also, do these results affect the seedings of the riders they have "beaten"?

The way I understand it is that the finishing index you receive in the race is based on your finishing time relative to that of the winners finishing time. It won't matter if these culprits get pulled out of the results, you still finished say 2 hours behind the winner. You will move up some places though, from 468 to 462.

Correct - so your seeding is not affected by 'cheaters'. However, the 'cheaters' obviously receive a far better index for this race than what they should have. So, their index/seeding will come down. And in the next race they will start in a batch they should not be in. The result.... Holding up stronger riders ????
