I was there yesterday, my word some grumpy cyclists there. and some really friendly guys having a jol.

OK so in conclusion , after trawling through all the personal attacks, non topic nonsense and the sniping and sheeple gang stuff -in answer to the original topic- its pretty much established common sense that this line as originally discussed should be ridden in a anti clockwise ,downward fashion-from south to north  and entering it from the western side of the park during busy times .. Cyclists should be aware and respectful of all other park users .it is not a bike park -Im not sure who came up with that idea -but it is a very good line that alot of riders (old and new ) count as a highlight on their ride . Riding up the line is just not good sport .Neither is flying past -within inches- of dog walkers and families at 35 kph in a public space.

Most importantly what is not discussed here at all are the consequences of 4 riders coming down the line having a great time and 2 coffee riders chilling on the up on a blind corner ---

I am afraid that isn't the conclusion..neither is it fact...its your interpretation of it.

 

ITS BI-DIRECTIONAL, PEOPLE CAN COME UP OR GO DOWN ANY PART OF THE PARK. RIDE WITH THIS MINDSET. BY GOING AT SPEED YOU WILL NOT ONLY PUT YOURSELF AT DANGER, BUT ALSO THE OTHER PEOPLE IN THE PARK. ONE INCIDENT CAN SPOIL IT FOR EVERYONE SINCE RIDING THERE IS A CONCESSION.

That is pretty easy to discuss:

The four riders going downhill are going to have to stop pretty quickly and give way to the riders going uphill.

Always the rider going down that has the first responsibility to care for the riders going uphill.

Sometimes it spoils a great ride, but that is the way that we all get along.

Not sure I'm understanding this correctly. You mean bi-direction?

1 - the 4 riders coming down should give way - if they are going too fast to have enough control to give way then they are the problem.

2 - the coffee riders are having just as much fun as the 4 - possibly more...

 

The consequence of a collision could very well be that some/all of them have to meet me with a mask and gloves on - and I cannot stress enough - this is not a good thing, both individually or for mountain bikers as a collective.

 

Far better for everyone to be aware that there might be obstacles on the path, and ride appropriately with curtesy and caution, and within their skill sets.

I tried the route CCW this week. It’s not as challenging as CW but it still beats cycling on tarmac

 

I incidentally passed 2 other riders on the Olifants Road side who were cycling CW. No issues, just smiled and waved

 

Off topic: 

I’ve tried to ignore Mr Grant Frewen since I assumed that he’s just another bored troll.

 

Against  my better judgement I Googled him and found similar outbursts across other comment sections and forums.  I’ll concede that his posts have stimulated lively debate but it’s also clear that we’re dealing with an entitled and unrepentant prick

It's really the only part of the track from on the very popular Fratelli to Melville route that doesn't have two tracks alongside each other.  So hopefully it will evolve in a similar way and then the keep left rule could apply as it does generally on the other parts of the Fratelli - Melville route. :clap:
