Specialized- Think twice

Apologies for all the hand-bags. Its not Friday after all.

Back to topic: In my view Specialized has done much more than what would be required in this case. I hope that the potential fraud in claiming on a second hand frame gets a second look at HQ, as these types of warrantee claims makes legit claims  down the line much harder.

edd zachery...and we still have to hear the other side of the story.

I have known and dealt with Graham for 15 years, since he had the AutoExtra Store, and has never ever had bad service from him. He has always been friendly and willing to help. I also support other shops and have had some fallouts but these guys know their business depends on their level of service and in the end I got the service I expect. You want a once off experience or a trust relationship.... your choice.

I think Graham also has a side of this story to tell and my opinion is that he won't be rude and piss off customers unless he has been treated badly or unfairly.

"fraud" is a trolling word.

The dealer has already set the warranty process in motion with this knowledge of the 2nd hand frame.

It is up to the warranty owner how they proceed once they accept they will start the warranty process. No fraud here.

The issue is one of customer service. The customer would like a certain colour. That is easily accommodated if still in production. Can't agree to warranty then suddenly decide it's fraud because hub heavy calls it that.

I wanted to buy an S works from them - they told me I was not a good enough rider for an S works... .

If that is true, that is f*cking ridiculous.

Of course it is true, he really IS a shocking rider........

The best he has recently done is top 5 in the vets in one of the country's top stage races. Nothing more than a Scwinn single speed for him.

mmmm I am sure its not standard practise but rather a concession, dont confuse the two, the one would be noted in the warrantee fine print. The upgrades normally come in when the manufacturer can no longer supply the same item due to end of lifespan. They then offer upgrade path...Well that is what happened to me with my garmin.

Anyhow..back to topic. I think spez has met the guy halfway, his rant seems to be because they didn't want to go over and above(which some dealers do).

I think they have gone over and above...well, if I am reading this right...Spez are sorting out a warranty for a second owner...?

Don't know if the sale went through on the cracked frame so the warranty frame is most likely going to the seller of the bike, who is the original owner... So then the OP is throwing his toys for a bike he doesn't even rightfully own

I am not sure if HQ is aware that the frame is second hand. I don't have the facts hence the word POTENTIAL in my post. If the dealer has not disclosed the second hand nature of the frame there is fraud involved, most likely from the dealer's side, in an effort to help a customer, who is now complaining about said help. It does not make the probability that there was not full disclosure to HQ go away. Hopefully Graham can clear this up. I am sure we all would like to hear from him as there may be warrantee precedents set here.
