At least Dan Martin had the balls to give it a go. If Movistar had a brain cell between them they might have had a yellow jersey in their bus tonight. What was Valverde thinking getting into the break? And what was the point of the other two Movistar riders in the break? I was under the impression they had come to the tour to try and get Quintana a win. If he does win it will be because Froom cocks it up.

What's the bet Froome goes on the pounce on Tuesday... at least he is willing to win it.. so good on him.

Unlikely with a stage like this... but then again, he did attack on the descent too.

Think Mr Vroome will wait til Thursday... And then we'll all sit waiting for his power data up Mont Ventoux so that we can engage in a bit of Groundhog Day! ????

Movistar and Astana should work together to crack Sky in my opinion.

Astana won't work with anyone. They don't even work for each other.

I like Porte, he just makes such stupid decisions on a bike.

Martin pushing for a podium spot and I really hopes he gets it. (He has the most balls of the current rivals)

Ja, I have a lot of time for him. Bid respect for his attitude. Fearless and courageous.

Yates looking good like said.

Still a hell of a long way to Paris, I'm certain there will be "that one" stage in the Alps where chaos will break loose.

No we've moved on..

Froomey is the one wanting to win it so go Froomey[emoji15] (flip.. it hurts saying that.).. and Go Dan-The-Man for a podium spot, don't know if he has the stuff to beat Froome but we'll cheer him on along with Mollema.. I liked what he also did today.

Focus is purely on the Green, white and polka-dot jersey for me.[emoji6]

But mostly the green one

The sort of textbook stage the organisers create for the breakaway specialists: start with a big climb right off the bat, followed by a loooong downhill, and then a few bumps in the finale to promote those in the break to start attacking each other.

And the finish has been created specially for a punchy type like Sagan, Matthews, Alaphilippe to attack on the last hill which looks like it comes straight out of a spring classic: short and steep.

Nosthordamus would not have seen that coming! ???? #christallballs

Dan seems like quite a pleasant peasant, and yeah, at least he gives it a go.

Very PS: go Pietie Sagz.

Only week 1, fans

One strategy to beat Sky is to have them control the race, sit in the wind every day and deplete their collective energy levels

Week 3 looks like a complete nightmare for the sprinters, roleurs and even puncheurs

Not to mention the hilly TTs

It's a long way to the Eifel Tower

Mmm I get that.. but shees hey.. I still think they need to take time wherever they can.. those Skyborgs robots have that button they switch on that goes onto autopilot.

I'm most impressed by Yates

Meintjies too

What a steady performance from him

Lovely subplot within the race as the young rider's jersey comp moves forward
