Wow, Contador took down 2 Sky riders as well.

The Spaniard hit the deck with 79 kilometres to go, landing on his right shoulder and tearing his jersey and shorts after the peloton took a tight right turn. He hit  kerb and lost skin in the fall but quickly remounted. He had a bike change soon after and was escorted back into the peloton by four Tinkoff teammates.

The jersey of Contador's right shoulder was shredded but he did not seem seriously inured.

Television pictures showed that Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas and Luke Rowe were also taken down in the fall. Thomas took a new rear wheel from neutral service and rejoined the peloton after Rowe.

I see Contador took another rider out when he slipped, no mention of how he is doing, hope he is ok.

Impressive kerb jumping by some to avoid them.

Looked to me as though that rider clipped Berto which caused the crash.

Ja lol.. actually a very very good sprint from Sagan.. he also gave Cav a nice little lead out there [emoji6]

.

Cav definitely found the right wheel there. Lucky? Yes but sometimes you need luck. Following Sagan gave him 2-3 seconds in the slip while Kittel had wind in his face from too far out.

It's not all luck and sometimes instinct and position. BUT they all should know by now how Sagan race. (Not always smart and calculated. He just hammers and see what happens) so that's the wheel to follow.

Big up to Sagan though. What a beast. That grab for the line put Kittel and the rest on the ropes.

Well done Cav. That was 22 w/kg before he sat up.

Not to me, rider was on the inside, had he clipped Contador he would have fallen first.

He (BMC) was on the outside actually. But I'm not sure if he touched Berto. Looks to be half wheelling and something definitely unsettling Berto and it doesn't look like he lost the front (only explanation for going down in that turn to me).

But yeah, I could be wrong.

"I’m so happy. I really wanted to win here today... The lads were incredble. Edvald [boasson Hagen] did the most incredible turn at the end. He rode out of skin today. I’m so happy to do this for Dimension Data today. There’s no better way to highlight the Quebeka charity..."

If you have a look at the video i posted from the other angle..you can see Bert lost his front wheel.. afterwards he also said that he lost his front wheel and went down.. very lucky not to have something broken.

Cavendish luckily picked Sagans wheel? I don't call that luck. It's the wheel to get onto if he can, and he could. I would say he was delivered perfectly and was cool enough in the heat of the sprint to make some clever split second decisions.
