I was that guy sitting 20km in on the marathon with a bust wheel/spoke. So bleek.. Waited 1.5 for a vehicle to pick me up , nothing came, bypassed and hitch hiked, some dude from the area saved me eventually!! Fun times and crap wheel builds all in a days mtb. I'll be back!!!

Also took the wrong detour route along with everyone else it seems....

On our way back searching for the correct route had a nice nasty sidewall cut.

At least I knew very well how to get to the venue

That board at the split told us to turn left for the 70. Juniors had a gate that was closed.

Here is some free advice advendurance, take some of the 30% increase in race fees and EMPLOY MARSHALLS WITH AT LEAST 5 BRAIN CELLS. Total joke of an event. Could not even get prize giving right for the youth in the half.

Interesting to note hat lots of the issues with route markings, etc are experienced this year, now that there is a western cape series as well...  Wondering if Advendurance is spending to much time in the fair cape rather than making sure the Gauteng series is also running smoothly....

I ended up with 81km with 4:20min......do you think they will fix it if you can provide details. ?

But ja I don't think they will.

Couldn't agree more. There are always issues with routes, results and the entire series is a joke. I for one won't be attending any more. The entry packs are also an embarrassment to the sponsors. Seriously rather give nothing away than socks and almost expired energy gels.

Looking at the results for the Half Marathon and then picking random names and looking at their Strava rides it is obvious that the first few groups all did a somewhat shorter route of around 28km and missed out the loop to the north after the second water point. It will be nteresting to see how that mess gets sorted out as they should all be excluded.  I sympathise as it was not intentional but it does screw up the seeding for those that did the full route.

Apart from the first misguidance on the marathon about 4km in (or whatever it was) I had no issues with the route markings. That mark was wrong though, it clearly said 70KM Straight.

Anyways, really tough day out for me, battled the last 20KM, but I managed it. Huzzah! Had a lot of fun none the less, quite a pretty venue!
