That Blondie just battles on the big day.

Or she has crap luck with injuries.

Frizzmiss has me scratching my head with this struggle to perform on the big days in elites. She snotklapped everyone in U23's - 3 world championship wins! So definitely capable. It is utterly mystifying.

Annika had a bad day and seems to have lost form and with it confidence. Hope she regains it sooner rather than later.

Perhaps Annika's season is catching up with her?

Still love that pic

The start is long and wide..long enough to make up lots of places at the start... small field. But it will be very hard for him... still think he has enough talent and strong enough for a top 10...[emoji16] plus how awesome would a top 10 be.

Sagan starts right at the back in row 7 all by himself. Lol3901ff72e87a826614019e22ce57bcac.jpg

Pity about the grey haired git

I think Sagz will be in the top 5, at least

BTW Sagan was there watching the ladies race.. but I will not post pics of Sags now because the day belongs to the laides[emoji122] [emoji122]

Looking at that course and the start.. I am think he could pull off a really good result.. all the climbs we saw looked compact and smoother than any of the Flanders climbs[emoji6] he just needs a smooth and incident free start to have a shot at that good result.[emoji106]

He also doesn't love the heat. So hopefully cool day [emoji120]

Yo!anda may still have health problems, that was the reason given at other UCI events this year when she failed to perform, or DNS

Anika: something is not right, might be a head space issue? Her performance at Mont Sainte Anne a few weeks ago was similar to today.

One possibility for sure. Epic win plus wins in several WC that were essentially back to back efforts so yes fatigue could explain it.

That Brazilian heat really is something else. Not the hottest I had ever been (that's Indonesia) but definitely very pressing and strength sapping. You sweat bucketloads during the day and these races are being held just after 12 noon. If Annika was fatigued and not fueling properly it would also go along way to explain the sub par performance today. Certainly by her standards at least.

If health was a concern with Jolanda why not pull out when things went bad? Not sure I believe that she's ill. And she's had two poor performances at the XCO world's since turning elite. So I think something else is problematic. As to what exactly I have no idea.

As for Annika, I think Gen raised I good point re fatigue. Can't be top fitness for as long as she was without it coming back to bite her. She needs some time off. Proper R&R. She'll be back though!

So who was the Saffa that designed this course?

I heard something but changed over the Vuelta rendering the rewind function void
