Helmet after crashing

So what's the thoughts behind this. Do I need to change my helmet after a crash?

Crashed on Saturday and broke my collarbone, my shoulder took all the impact with no injuries to my head. No visible signs of signs of damage on the helmet.

Is there anyway to get the helmet checked properly or do I just change it? It's a Kask Mojito.

Hi Vivek

I know some manufactures offer a crash replacement warranty on their helmets but I'm not quite sure about Kask. In my honest opinion, just buy a new one as to me it's the most vital part of kit we own

It is defn the most vital part of kit.

If you like the helmet and don't really want to replace it take it for a check-up and see if you really have to replace it.

How thorough is your inspection and how certain can you be that you didn't hit your head?

If you are wrong you could do a lot of damage if you fall again as the helmet will offer little to no protection.

If you know for certain then all okay.

That is the risk

Hi Vivek B.

Should you need a new helmet,   Kask do offer a crash replacement programme,  please take your broken helmet to a participating dealer and you will receive a discount on a new helmet.

Many thanks

Changed two helmets after crashes. Both times I handed in the damaged one and got awesome discount on replacement.

Change it...not worth taking a chance.

Speedy recovery!

Damn does that mean I should be replacing this after head butting a tree, even though it looks like external damage only. Suppose the integrity of the helmet is compromised?

I wouldn't ride with that helmet Pikey

lol I knew that was the answer honestly. Been riding with it for a month or 2 now. Bollocks gonna have to shell out for a new lid. Forgot about it if I'm honest. Goldfish syndrome ????

If the styrofoam is cracked/fractured then it most def has to be replaced.

Pikey that lid still looks good to go, but check the styro foam on the inside for cracks

i did check it after crashing, looks like only the plastic shell,no damage that I can see to the styro foam.

Hey Pikey. Nsqared has offered you a crash discount. I would take advantage if I was you. The fact that you have made this post, tells me there is doubt in your mind as to the integrity.

Don't take the risk, get a new one.
