I recently aquired a MTB frame from my mate who is off the Aussie. The frame is completly stripped and been painted a zillion times with a paint brush. It is aluminium and has a slopeing top tube and about a medium in size. (thats all I know from it's looks at the moment)

So i decided to completely repaint and rebuild it to see how it turns out. Not being a MTB rider can any of you dirt guys make recomendations on what components i should be using. (obv. i'll have to use ShimaNOAngry) with slightly higher than entry leval status, and a possible budget of 2000 to 2500K.

It's gonna need everything from a BB to a Saddle and from the front wheel to the rear wheel. The frame cannot take disc brakes so i got to stay with V brakes.

lets hear your proffesional opinions here

You don't have to use ShimaYES. There is Sram. Find out from your mate what length fork he used. The difference between a 80mm and 100mm fork will affect the geometry of the bike.

Must be for a build up and not a spare. Rather have the stuff used than sitting around gathering dust. Madmarc let me know otherwise lowracer send me a pic of your project.

Thanx Dirtbreath i'm gonna take you up on your offer. What beer you drink and who is your favourite charity.

Whats all included in the X9

Furthemore i was checking out the frame last night, and phew!!! it's got a lot of work to be done. So I thought of a good Idea of what to do with this project when it's finshed (cause i got far to many bikes in my house)

Here's the idea. I am prepared to spend a bit of money and time building the bike, in addition if there are any hubbers prepared to donate old unused components for this project, would obviously be welcome. Then we as Hubbers donate / give it to some youngster who is nominated by the hub as a deserving recipient. Possibly a kid you know, who really wants to get into MTB but cannot afford a bike.

With ADMIN permission i will have the bike painted blue and white and call it "THEHUBSA" with the logo.

But b4 i start i want to first strip the bike down to bare metal this weekend to make sure there are no cracks etc, then we can start

What do u hubbers think????

Very good idea. I'm sure I will have a 27.2 mm Kalloy seatpost for you at the end of the month.

Try and get it bead/walnut blasted. It will go alot quicker. Do not use sand as it is too abrasive.
