So it is R150 + provincial levy.

Breakdown for 2016 CSA Membership Fee:
  • Standard Fee (CSA Membership)           R83.00
  • Group Insurance Cover                        R45.00
  • Loyalty Card Fee                                 R10.00
  • Road Cover                                        R12.00

Provincial levy:  Some provinces charge an additional levy to assist with the development and running of the provincial structures. These levies vary from province to province. Your province, which is made up of the clubs will provide the information as to what and how these funds are utilised within your province, as these are determined by the input from clubs at regional and provincial meetings. The various provinces levies are: Gauteng Central - R75, Gauteng North - R50; Kwazulu Natal - R50; Free State - R75; Eastern Province - R50; North West - R75; Limpopo  - R50; Mpumalanga - R25; Northern Cape - R50; Southern Gauteng - R50; Western Cape - R25

Maybe not the best business model, but please elaborate on the delivering nothing part?

I'm referring to a type of business practice in general in response to davem saying R75 isn't much in the expensive sport of cycling. It isn't but R75 times the 26000 members they claim amounts to ~R2m.

The delivering nothing part is maybe a bit harsh but refers to the fact that the R75 buys something that I and 90% of members probably wont use and they know that.

I would be quite happy to just pay the membership fee at R83 and not take all of the bells and whistles

Picked up the the new card at the 94.7 registration. Only rewards partners I know are Spurs and Food Lovers, and even then only certain branches.

here in CTown we also have to pay PPA membership at R325 per year - will no bells and whistles. if i do a ppa ride i pay up to R200 a ride.

on the other hand i belong to a csa club - it costs me nothing to do their club ride and they start almost on my doorstep (every ride). the local csa okies - wp charged r100 a race and they have prize money on offer. the ppa comes up with a funride challenge - no prize money and they still have the audactiy to charge 200 bucks and the 'winners' will receive medals (just like the olympics) incredible value!!

Loyalty card fee - whats that for

I do not care too much about the loyalty card, I take a license and membership every year anyway, my disciplines that I ride demands it. Oh well. CSA does offer value, but not for everybody, and not through a loyalty card, loyalty cards are totally over subscribed anyway. There are other ways of creating value for users.

Can you believe that I've just had to pay R550 for my 2016 racing license.

2016 CSA Membership            = R150

Domestic Racing License         = R350

Provincial Affiliate fee               = R50
