Last hurdle to getting into triathlons. Beware its a *very* slippery slope once you try the first one!

There is a very active long-distance swimming scene in Auckland and it is supported by a weekly clinic on a Sat morning.

They kick off in early spring.

Cool swims like Rangitoto to Mission Bay, Bean Rock lighthouse and back, and so on.

Well organized and supported. Come and play!

Need some advice.

I love hiking. I want to take my kids on a couple of hikes and this has got me wondering on the rules and regulations around freedom camping on beaches.

Does anyone know if it forbidden to camp for a night on a public beach?

There is a gorgeous beach north of Piha (Anawhata Beach). It is only accessable through walking and is part of the Hillary trail.

While we are on the subject, does anyone have any suggestions for an overnight trip that can be done around auckland?

Being part of the Hillary trail, wouldn't it have camp areas nearby as that is a multi-day hike?

Like this for instance...

I'm not sure about camping on the actual beach though.

Having seen tons of freedom campers from my time cruising the South Island, I would say, as long as you don't poop on the beach, you should be ok, hahaha!

Has anyone ridden at Hunua Ranges? Whats it like, my kids Josh and Em who rode with us at Woodhill are racing in the school series this weekend.

The directions to get there make it sound like its really muddy?

Most of the tracks have metal to make them rideable in winter. The non-metalled parts are shortish. There might also be river crossings (I'm not sure what tracks they Race). Having said that, it has been raining a lot lately, and I haven't been there for a while.

Hey guys,

Quick question: In NZ, what's your go-to Bike media? What Magazines, bloggers, Vlogs, websites etc do you check and trust for good quality info, pics and stories ? Does not have to be road or dirt specific, but if you could tell me where to look for what, that would be rad!

Thanks!

Spoke magazine is pretty good (https://spokemagazine.com/) and the Aussie website http://flowmountainbike.com/ has some good content too.
