I recently moved over to stuff fibre.

$99 for 900mbs down. Uncapped. First three months are discounted.

Stuff fibre is very good. You also get a discounted Asus router which is way better than the rubbish you will get from any of the big providers. AVOID spark, vodafone and even 2degrees at all costs. 2d's ISP used to be Snap Internet, and Snap was bloody good. But big telcos are notorious for their terrible service. Also, never do business with a company which has to bribe you to become their customer, so avoid for example the likes of Trustpower (disastrous service).

Generally, you want your ISP to be set and forget, and then with good local backup when you do have any issues. You will get that from Stuff Fibre...

Stuff Fibre looks like a decent option for home use.

I read over a few things and sadly it won't meet the requirements for my contractors as

  1. The say they have the right to throttle at any time
  2. Can only be used for private/home use and not for commercial purposes
  3. Have a fair use policy in play, so I'm sure the 3TB+ per month that we're uploading would raise some red flags.

But yeah, for home use, looks pretty sweet!

EDIT: we get pretty good service from Spark, but I think that's because commercially we are one of their larger accounts. As a personal user they'd probably ignore me, hahaha

Definitely talking from a 'private use' perspective Patches; Spark treats the schmo consumers like schmo consumers. Corporate accounts a whole 'nother story.

If you earn income in SA, you'll still have to pay tax here.

That makes sense. I understood it as having to pay income tax on foreign income.

It seems like you need might be classified as 'ordinarily resident' in some cases and need to financially emigrate.

Has anyone imported or know anyone who has imported a motorcycle into NZ?

Wouldn't mind getting an XT500, not something that seems particularly available locally, but some available in SA.

I know people who have imported cars from SA or elsewhere. Just about everyone says it is not worth the hassle. Just get a DRZ400 or something like that and hit the instant gratification button...

Does this mean that in order not to pay tax you have to give up SA citizenship?

Financial immigration will change your status from resident to non-resident. It changes nothing on your citizenship.

Part of the financial migration process requires you to close all accounts.

Then all funds are placed into a managed deposit account and once everything is in there like RAs and so on it’s transferred out and closed.

If you want to continue having a bank account you need to reapply and meet certain criteria.

Why would you want to keep an account open?
