Live tracking while out training

Good day all.

 

I have recently wondered if there are any apps that one could use for live tracking while one is out training? My wife gets worries some times when I am not at the correct hour at home (and then her imagination runs wild with what could have happened to me). 

 

We all know that the affirmative shopping season is upon us, not even to talk about the cars trying to run one over.

 

I use my iPhone with Strava to track my rides, but I was wondering if there are any apps/programs out there that she could access to see where I am should something have happened to me.

My wife checks my Strava too, but not because she is worried about my safety, but more to see if I am actually cycling

Endomondo. It's free and you can export your rides afterwards to Strava so you can still get your Strava Segments^TM

It's Xmas. Ask Santa (wife) for a Garmin, most reliable real time tracking you can get. When my wife heard about Garmin live tracking, she couldn't get to the shop fast enough.

 

Now we are both happy. I get to ride with peace of mind in case something does go wrong, and she gets to check where I'm riding whenever she wants.

 

Bear in mind as well it's not only useful for affirmative shopper incidents, if it ever happens that you crash and are unable to help yourself, that little stationary dot on the computer screen could save your life.

Download strava for her on her phone, and then you can check your friends how far they are riding?

She doesnt, I was being sarcastic

 

What I would suggest is running an app like Find My Friends in conjunction with Strava, you can then add multiple people to it too, kids, you boss and the ice-cream man if you have a thing for Cornettos etc.

check out http://www.roadid.com/ecrumbs, they have an app specifically for this. I think both you and your wife need to install it for her to track your rides.

runtastic, strava offer live tracking. on runtastic you can get cheers too while live tracking, only it eats my phone(note 3) battery in about 6-7 hours from a full charge.

Alternatively you could get the spot gen 3 (http://shop.navworld.co.za/spot/personal-safety/spot-gen3/spot-gen3.html) or spot trace, this would enable your relatives to track you, and you could stick it under your seatpost, thus youll also have tracking device for your bike.

Don't use it often, but has worked well for me even on long-ish rides (8 hours+)
