mon-goose Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 To avoid chlorine damage to your wetsuit, we suggest that you limit your time in the pool to around 5 minutes and rinse the suit thoroughly with fresh water immediately afterwards what on earth can you do in 5 minutes?

travisza Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Many practice swim with wetsuits at my gym pool. As has already been said, take the suit and rinse it in the bath or shower at home afterwardsAnother way to make sure its rinsed properly is put it in the washing machine without soap and without spin cycle. I follow this after every race. Never swim in wetsuit in the pool.
IceCreamMan Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Wetsuits have a shelf life afaik of around 4 years anyway. So if you comfortable using it in the pool to build confidence etc just use it and rinse it afterwards, don't stress too much. If you run, we wear away our tekkies which are way more expensive over a 4 year period than wetsuits, we ride our bicycles the cost of tyres, chains etc is way more than wetsuits so don't worry too much of using it in a pool. Just do it although ppl may look at you funny
Beesrib Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Thx ICM, as mentioned I only have an outdoor pool as a swimming option. I might buy one of those second hand suits when xterra have a sale, and use that! good points on all the other gear.
@ndy Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 This is only my second IM event and from what I remember they were pretty strict with the timing for registration. Does anyone know if registration is still possible after 13:00 on the Saturday. I think I need to get an earlier flight?

They did allow it last year but I specifically went to the head registrar and mentioned that my mates flight had been delayed. Best to call ahead though and confirm.

That was in the late 1990's. It is still in good condition and i really enjoy swimming with it if the water is not to cold. The only damage it has is a fingernail hole or 2 ..... Which I have more or less glued up.

IceCreamMan Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 SMS last night, race number 2018 1952. think we in the same age group
IceCreamMan Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Picked up an injury running on Wednesday evening, strained a calf muscle so taking it easy, real easy. first real injury in nearly 2 years so I guess one must be philosophical and just accept it. Maybe the running break will do me good. And the beauty of tri, can still swim and cycle....
