do you think you could do two laps to my one ?

have a race of sorts ? Start at same time and you have to lap me ? I will idle along as I normally do and you have to "catch" me ?

If I average say 15/16 then you need to do close to double that for a bit more distance? it works out at what 140km per lap ?

Edit: make it a fun thing with a fund-raiser aspect on who will win ?

When are you looking to do this, Mrs Savage does not hand out day passes that often :P (And I come with a entourage)

Guys, I know the water points are about 60km apart, give or take.

What are the distances between the stopping points where you can catch a nap ?

I want to try work out distances and times between places and what will work and wont work ?

Oh yes, what time is the start ? Is it at 12pm ?

Support stations are roughly 200kms apart with 2 water points between each, afaik ...

Start on Wednesday midday, cut-off Monday midday ... 120 hours to complete ..

And what ratio would you recommend . I heard that there are more false flats than hills ? 32/16 ?

you cant enter ... you need to recover from the freedom ..besides you need to use a GPS on this route and not a map

just kidding ....

Morning folks ..

Since I can't attend Mini Munga 3 on Saturday, I'm planning a long training ride on Sunday (24th) if anyone is keen to join me.

Leaving Randburg (Boskruin) at about 6, past Bidon Bistro and then along Mini Munga 2 route ..

.. pace roughly 20km/h ..

Lemme know. .!

shucks 20km/hr!!

you planning on winning ? My 40 km rides are taken at a leisurely pace of 15km/hr.

If the weather plays along I am hoping to spend 4 or so hours on the bike Saturday and possibly 6 on Sunday.

What sort of training would one need to do to complete the munga inside the cutoff time?

You are going to be spending hours and hours on your bike, so this is the type of riding you need to replicate, at low intensities. To make the cut-off you need to average a surprisingly low speed, but for a long time on relatively flat terrain. The Mini Munga training rides are a great way to achieve this as you will be more motivated in the company of others to see through those long hours.

Gym and strength training will help your body cope with the fatigue on those washboarded roads, but it is essential that you do some 200 plus training rides so you know what its like. Doing some of them in the darkness will help to learn what that element is like and how to adapt.
