Need some input guys, ride a 26er or a 650b ? Both are dual suspension.

It was won last year on a 650b, hardtail nogal!

You need a hard tail yourself to handle that distance without some rear suspension...

go with the Anthem... bulletproof and comfy.

Sepia's bag is awesome. Good purchase. add a nice comfy backpack and you are in the game and winning.

How is the training going? I am nowhere close to being mistaken for an expert, but I would suspect that time in the saddle is going to be the key to your success.

Watching with excitement

suggestions for a back pack ?

currently riding with the first ascent hydration pack thingy, takes 3l water and then 9litre in the pockets etc is this enough or maybe more ?

Wahoofish, the toe loss was a bit of a setback and am currently at a bit of a low in terms of confidence, but the training seems to be going well. I just need to start with the 10 hr ride plus and then I should be ok. Night time riding on gravel tracks is going to be interesting.

woop woop. bike fit on the giant next week tuesday!

in the mean time. need to get the seatpost changed from a dropper post to a standard post.

Will it be worth it to stay on a set back post or go normal ?

Set-back or strait seat-post will depend on your Bikefit.

It change your relation to your BB  which influence the knee angle and to you handlebar.

Wait for the Bikefit to indicate.

After the 360 my hands were dead and numb for a week ,,So I'm going to go with bar ends to be able to switch grip in the ride.

At least I don’t feel alone anymore after reading some of these posts about the Munga in December and getting ready for it.

Confidence levels have been a bit low lately after not being able to get in enough training rides over the last month, minor injuries and also writing off my bike recently.

At the moment I’m on a Momsen STR but would prefer to do the Munga on a dual suspension.

So a bit of feedback

Went for a bike fit with Renay at Trail and Tar. Flip what an amazing shop. While waiting I was watching the guys in the workshop - it was the attention to the details and the small things that impressed. You got a real sense that it was not just about getting the job done - but about getting the job done right! Anyway I digress.

I got the giant anthem 650b fitted. Moved the cleats back a bit, dropped the seat a bit, upped the handle bars a bit, moved the seat a bit and got told I need to stretch more cause I am about a subtle as a tree stump. The little spin around the block felt good and bike just feels like it wants to be ridden for ages. So when we get back from holiday - it is game on!

I can highly recommend the bike fit, especially with Renay. Yes he used the numbers that got spat out by the PC, but he also listened to what I said did that did not feel right and made adjustments accordingly. See you guys in a few weeks.

Great stuff - glad you had a good experience.

Always good to make a positive step to get you all fired up and believing again. 90% of these endurance events is about belief IMO. When you strip everything else away, which distance does, your own self belief and determination is all that is left.

With regards the back pack.... Please...

Take an empty big one over a full small one.

Wasting time trying to fit everything in and having to unpack everything to get to whats at the bottom then stressing to close jammed zips will only end in tears and huge chunks of wasted time.

Other than time in the saddle and a good butt protection plan I would suggest that is super important.

bag suggestion then Jewbacca?

The new bag from 'Out There' looks dam good.

The adventure packs from first ascent also look the tits..... I use a 15+5l capacity bag from one of the early first ascent AR ranges.

You want space to be able to put your well packed dry bags as well as compartments for batteries etc so you don't ever have to rummage.

On bike races or the bike leg of an AR I remove my front pack in favour of a top tube food bag and bottles.

I have done away with bladders completely as they are a mission to refill in dry rivers or when you are too tired to speak. Also removing the pack to take the bladder out and fumble about to get it back in wastes time, concentration and energy!

You will be amazed how quickly simple things become very challenging when the sleep monsters come a calling!
