5 clock start tomorrow... Around Saxonwold, the zoo and back before 6:30.

Shower and shave and at work for 7:30.

Any earlier than that, and it feels like I am getting up in the middle of the night

Sleep early and ear plugs (if you are doing a multi stage event id even add a sleeping pill too). As long as you sleep well, waking up becomes easy, and routine after a month or so.

Preparing everything the night before helps tons, and id even say skip breakfast, go straight from bed to bib to bike, eat when you get back.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays up at 3:50. Kit up, espresso and out the door at 4:00. Back at 5:45 to get kids ready for school. Weekend starts depend on season - early in summer (5:15-5:30). Used to go to spinning, but gave up the gym contract and bought some decent lights. As mentioned by everyone else have everything set out the night before....although I still sometimes forget my glasses or like this morning my water.

Weekdays Up at 04:00 on the bike by 04:30 ride till 07:00 at work by 08:00.

Weekends Up at 04:00 on the bike by 04:30 ride till about 10:00 but can go to 13:00 in base season with a few coffee stops.

Try to get o bed by 11:00 but it's normally 11:30/12:00 then it's a struggle getting up with 4 hours sleep 5hours and I'm good.

I used to waiter when I first started studying those were some late nights and early mornings. Worst would be a working a Friday night and only getting home at 01:00am and having a +100km ride 3 hours later.

I don't start in the rain(opt for gym instead). A light summer drizzle is tolerated when it comes along during the ride. Durban has almost no winter rainfall, but twice in 2015 the Mercury dipped to 9 degrees and that is way too cold. (Gym again).

There is no such thing as bad weather only bad kit. You should come up the road to PMB we had a few -2°C mornings last winter.

A few years ago we did a Saturday ride where it was -4°C with ice on the roads for 3 hours, now that was a cold ride.

I'm a slow starter for sure and need at least one coffee before my brain even engages...and I still get all my stuff ready the night before. Despite my slow starts, I'm still usually the first one at the meeting point.
