weigh in this morning 110 kg :(

Had a good cadence session this morning...felt like i was cheating a little...I could have put in a little more effort.

managed to go over 700 watts (peaked at 840) seated this morning...for a couple of seconds :) I think it is just a matter of time on the trainer to get use to it again.

The beauty about riding a watt bike with all the info...

Now i can see how to achieve my goal...i need to get the cadence up to 127 rpm which will give a speed of around 45 km/h to get 739 watts...then i just need to keep it there for 30 seconds...just need to watch my heart rate doesnt go over 195 bpm...

The trick is the tension adjustment .

going through some number from the cadence session this morning (had to stop for a break due to hectic dehydration from an upset stomach the past 2 days) first time i have ever finished all my water in one session.

For me to keep an avg speed of 55km/hr (which still wont even get a KOM on the circuit) i need to be sitting at around 130 RPM pushing out an avg of around 560 watt...and this is sitting on a stationery trainer...imagine trying to pull my 110 kg fat ass along on a bicycle...with a slight breeze...eeeish.

Lap 24 01:59:33 00:27 0.3 km 44.9 km/h 523 watt 163 bpm

129 rpm

Getting there...small steps...523 watt for 27 seconds

and that would have to be for 6minutes or so. Something that's not possible for us novice cyclists. Another problem you may have, can you spin that fast without bouncing around on a moving bicycle ...?

Plus side after my op. I know weigh 94kg after being around 105kg-112kg Jan/Feb.

Pity I can tell how I have improved on the bike. Waiting patiently to go for a ride, will be a couple of weeks still hopefully.

Problem with loosing weight like that...all your muscles go into relax mode...hope you get better soon.

I quite enjoy the checking out some numbers now and then but nothing at the level that you do ... my old brain couldn't deal with that mostly just ride/train on feel these days and loving it!

Chom I personally I think you need to re-look your goals....2 things stand out from all your messages here, 1. You're struggling to loose weight and 2. It looks like you want to connect a toaster to a bike and make some breakfast with leg power. Unfortunately we have never met and I don't know you, and if I am wrong please forgive me but for goodness sake bud...I think you're trying to push yourself to a place where you will never be happy with any sort of results. You need to look at power to weight ratio, if you want to push 700 watts you need a big hammer to drive home that nail. Cycling faster doesn't mean you need to be Quadzilla, cycling faster means you need to be rhythmically steady at a cadence that will allow you to go the distance ...the whole distance. Goodness man, why would you want to go 700 watts for X amount of minutes when you're anyways going to be toast for the rest of the time you need to be on the bike.

Heart rate at about 180 you're anyways going to be in VO2 Max zone and this means you're body is going to be burning calories for energy....not fat. So when you get off your beastmode cycling session you're probably going to be heading straight to the fridge and dig into leftover cheesecake and chips...I know this because this is what I do.

One question you need to ask yourself is "hows my base looking?" and be honest with yourself there, if you build a house on sand it's never going to stand. Maybe what you need is to take of your cleats and get back on your bike with your Crocs on and try and stay in your Fat burning/Endurance zone at about 125-135 bpm for as long as possible....This is what I am doing now and I can trap my bike till it cries chain lube...but my base needs work.

But all this is just my personal opinion and I'll probably end this message like the IF twins on youtube end their videos ;-)

Keep well and I hope you find your cycling happy place.

DoubleJ ...thanks for the constructive feed back...

the 700 watt for 30 seconds is the fun part...

the only measuring device i have on my bike is my iphone which sits in my pocket and reviewed at the end of the ride...this is why i enjoy these cadence sessions...the bike has everything...except a little motor to make wheel turn ;)...i am like a kid in a toy shop.

i still have a long way to go...i am looking at a 3 year journey...

last year i was a 128.1 kg fat oke who battled to get into triple xl clothing...

couldnt get up the first section of the green route at giba without taking 15 minutes breaks after every switch back..

strava segments in the 1000s...

avg speed of 19 km/hr

top speed on  flat sections 29 km/hr...

so i am pretty excited when i see the results.

For the base training (which I am also lax in, I admit) it would probably be better for you to get a cheap-ish HR monitor that you can strap to your bars to ensure that you stay within certain HR parameters, for the primary fat loss.

I've just bought a bar mount for my Fenix, specifically for that purpose as I find myself unable to watch the numbers as it's on my wrist, and I then go into the pain-cave and just go all out whenever I get the chance. I need to engage my fat-burning cycle, and for that to happen I need to monitor my HR.

Either that, or get a Wahoo HR belt and an iphone bike mount, then link the 2 so you can monitor yourself on Strava as you go.

The higher end targets are fun to hit, absolutely. But for longer term, and what you're aiming for, this may be the better approach...

I have one of those Bluetooth Polar heart rate chest straps, they're awesome. I put my ipad sommer on a music stand running the free Polar app. To get cadence i use an old digital speedo and with a little maths you can turn it into a cadence sensor.

I've said it before and I'll say it every time I can...you wanna loose weight...Sufferfest.

Without trying to make it weird or something...hope this will give you a bit of motivation...20kg lost in 3 months, if I can do it...anyone can. post-67031-0-01010400-1458837450_thumb.jpg
