2016 motivation for getting lighter and faster

I'm busy with one helluva battle...can't seem to drop below 105kg and have now popped back up to 108kg. So frustrating, work is keeping me off the bike haha, evrytime I get a decent start I have to go away again. Following an intermittent fasting program now but I'm still not dropping. So damn frustrating

In the same boat, Fox. Was sitting at 108 for weeks, despite "clean eating" etc. Last week Thursday I dropped to 106. Now sitting mid 106's and I should be 105 by Friday. 

 

Running is definitely helping. 

 

Keep at it, mate.

Why not use a app like FatSecret, honestly and accurately record EVERYTHING that you consume for 1 month, and then revisit that assesment?

Actually am using fatsecret and myfitnesspal. And I'm really honest. Well its like Myles says just gotta stick with it.

I used MFP for a while. Found it good, but wasn't able to stick with it. If you can, it's a great tool, and it did "teach" me about proper portion control as well as calorie consuption through the day, so I now have a reasonable knowledge of what a particular meal will have (as long as I make it)

 

Problem was that there are periods of no exercise, or at least very limited exercise, and in this case there was also increased alcohol consumption, which definitely didn't help things. 

 

So yeah, it was all my fault. 

 

At the moment the whole house is eating according to the "Eating for sustained energy" series of books, which worked for my wife a while ago and give VERY detailed information on the nutritional content and serving size of each meal. I'm still drinking loads of water (darn toilet breaks though) and now due to the running (easier to get a quick run in after / before work than a quick ride) it's starting to bear fruit. 

 

For anyone struggling with portion sizes - I'd absolutely recommend it.

indeed the apps are good to start with as it teaches you some form of control and gives you a good idea about the nutrients breakdown... Gets tiring after a while though.

 

I gave up on MFP some weeks ago, and have managed to stay on the good road. For me I guess knowing that the races are coming up keeps me at bay.

another goal achieved...hill2hill 45 km...last year spent more time walking up the hills than riding...this year i rode all the way to the top of the two biggest climbs and only walked up 2 short climbs due to loss of traction in the mud...now just the Amashova.

 

well done !!

 

No reason why you won't do well at Shova. 3 weeks to go so make it count, don't go extreme and give your body enough time to recover.

Its not just about teaching you about portion sizes, it also removes your opinion bias.

 

I have used my wife as an example before, she says and thinks that she eats healthily. Till I made her use FatSecret, when she saw what her daily consumption was she was shocked and finally clicked why she wasnt losing weight.

 

100g Packet of nuts, which is very easy to snack on during the day, and is healthy... BANG 600cals.

 

There is only 1 truth to how many calories one eats, if you jippo your numbers you are only screwing yourself.

Agreed on these points. My big problem I believe is the "drink"...especially with all these work trips I can control my portions and reduce them quite often but the beers and bottel of wine is causing alot of damage and also then not exercising due to limited time.

 

Also started running just a 5 kay at like 7:30/km so really slow with some walking but I still stuck around this weight. It might just be a plateau which needs breaking. Built myself a great diet using fatsecret which sees me being in a calorie deficit nearly every day. Pretty sure with the fasting and diet the plateau is gonna break!

i've just hit the lowest i've ever been in many years... Same weight recorded for last 2 days so no errors from the scale... 87.1

 

Now to get to low 80's then lose the 6packoffat...

That's done in the kitchen and with weights.

 

Squats, deadlifts, etc etc. The more lean muscle you build the faster the fat burns naturally

You means squatting down next to the fridge to lift out a 6 pack? :whistling:
