Advise please, Front wheel off centre

Morning Hubbers.

Need some advice on what could be the cause? It seems my front rim is off centre, if you look at the wheel from the handle bar it feels if the bike is almost leaning to one side.

The wheel seems to be more to the right of the fork, its a brand new set of rims so I don't think its the rim.

My previous rim did the same.

It irritates the crap out of me, and the rubbing on my mud guards is not cool.

Have it looked at by a bike shop, if possible one with a reputable wheel builder. This is normally the case when one side of the spokes are tightened without keeping the balance on the other side. Unfortunately when buying a wheel set off the shelf things like this does happen, mass production and all...

It could be that the wheel dish is out, do as Letum911 says, take the wheel to a reputable wheel builder to have it sorted.

I did the previous rim and it helped but my concerns is that all 3 sets of rims I have used did the same. Or should every front rim be set according to the fork?

I doubt that changing the position of the caliper will work, but I think this is a dodgy move which can result in catastrophic bailouts should it come loose, the bolts break etc.

Was all the previous wheels store bought? It could possibly be that you corner harder into a certain direction than the other and due to spokes not being the correct tension that it shifts.

In the end my advice is get the wheel sorted by a reputable wheel builder. It does cost a few cents more but will save you a lot of headache in the future!!

My first set was bike standard, thats when I noticed the weird leaning feeling. Second set was second hand and did the same, had the front wheel done and it helped.

Now I have a brand new set and it still dos the same.

Can you please supply some pics. This will give us all a better idea of what you are referring to ,as well as seeing what you mean about the mud guard rubbing.

Don't rule out a slightly twisted fork if you've had some nasty crashes. If this is the case the wheel will run at a slight diagonal angle, making it look like it's off to one side as you look down 'from the stem'. Happened to a mate of mine and it was a bit of a costly business.

Did you use the same tyre on all 3 rims?

The reason I ask is because a while back I had a similar problem and took my bike to my lbs to have it checked out. They then pointed out to me that the rim was fine, it turned out that the tyre was actually the problem. There was a bubble in the tyre which gave the illusion of the rim not being centered.
