Yip I have. 3 rides of about 35k's each last week with lots of shifting at Thaba. No issues besides the adjusting of the shifting being a bit 'fiddly' .... one notch makes a difference! Back on it from tomorrow morning ????

Bliksem Ben. How many bikes do you own? Sorry I meant, when does your mate (who works on oil rigs overseas) want his two bikes, that you are storing for him, back, if ever?

NSBB, how is the chainline using the 3x XT crank?

Currently on a 1x10 11-36 with a XTR 3x crank and the chain rub and noise in the 36 cog is worrying.

It isn't really noisy on the 42 but I don't ride there much .... having said that I am toying with the idea to put some of those spacers, 2.5mm I believe, as some have suggested. Apparently it also helps to reduce wear on the big gears?

Ja, and I had to go and donate my 3x9 SLX crankset to a friend a few months back, when he did a 1 x 10 conversion.

Would have worked perfectly for me.

technically, yes. But the size of the large cogs means that they like to have the chain a bit closer to the inside than a normal setup, IMO.

That was my thinking that it's in those gears where the RD (not 11 speed or extender specific in this case) seems most 'out of it's normal' operation so to help it there ... I mean normally in granny (on a 3*10 for example) you can still comfortably use the 11?

Been a tad busy so haven't done it yet but I WILL have it ready for tomorrow's early morning ride!

Sourced a Sram "spiderless"crankset sans the chainring. Next step is to hunt one of them down, hopefully by the weekend.

Then my conversion can commence.

Shifting in the top half of the cassette definitely feels 'crisper' now with the spacers so I would suggest that it's not a bad idea

That's it I'm finished fiddling around with this now it's just ride it. Have a different objective tomorrow so a different bike is called for
