not the toughest or the prettiest ride... the one redeeming feature is the end when you are approaching Moses and you have the sea on your left. The concrete highway is in terrible condition so please be careful on that section.

The only bad stretch of road is Edwin Swales between M4 and N2, there is some road works going on at the moment.

Will drive it late next week to check what's happening.

Number 3 for me this year. first time I did 3h20. Second time 3h15. I wonder if I have done enough training this time to do 3h10[emoji4]

Some of those cracks in the concrete could eat a whole skinny wheel...but the holes on that section could eat a bike and rider...the trick is to stay in the right hand lane...i am too scared to dive in the other two lanes in motor vehicle [emoji15]

I drive that road every day. Stay on the right but keep your eyes on the road ahead as there are still a few holes about... Seen that stretch of road from South Coast Road to the N2 bridge eat more than it's fair share of tyres [emoji15]

Just some feedback on the M7 from the M4 to Pinetown. Checked on the drive home today. Keep right and stay in the middle and you should be fine. No big holes but a few cracks on the concrete section up yo the N2 bridge. Have a good ride!

Edit: No big holes in the right lane.... Mahoooosive holes in the centre lane with exposed re-bar and big cracks in the left lane with some crumbling concrete.

Hopefully the road repairs will be finished by race day [emoji106]

Will be at the top of the M7 climb under the bridge cheering you guys on!

Geez this is my 1st real road race. Have done the argus but not as a race ( was with a mate just enjoying the ride) also done the 94.7 but on a mtb bike for charity.

So am doing this on my new road bike (bought dec) have put some road Km's for a change so am kinda hoping I have a half decent race.

But must I presume I will be starting near the back coz I don't have a road seeding. Unless they do take your mtb seeding into account.

Am pretty damn nervous about being in a bunch and actually TRYING to race .

Any tips on how to stay safe ? Have been told never overlap wheels. I don't know the route at all and now there are places where the road is dodge,as if I'm not nervous enough.

All training rides have been alone or with a mate. None in a bunch.

Just think sensibly and you will be fine, we all have to learn and gain experience somehow.

Don't overlap wheels, hold your line, don't slam on your brakes for no reason. Communicate with the people around you, use hand signals when you intend on moving around in the bunch.

Just also be very alert and try to keep an eye on atleast 2-3 people in front of you to read the pace and any changes to it, this way it gives you enough time to react.

The most difficult part of the route is between the 15-30km mark, save some gas through here and you will be ok through the rest.

This is actually a good race to start. Not that big in numbers such as Argus and 94.7. Do not race up the hill towards Pinetown...early in the race still feeling fresh and you do have the energy and you gun it. By the time you hit Umhlanga with the drag up towards Ballito you are wasted so keep it moderate until you get to Pinetown and then you can give it horns.

This mistake I made last year, not to be repeated this year.
