If you venture South, in the Meyersdal area you will find Super Stoked Cycles.

Professional, knowledgeable, ethical. Great workshop, expert fitment. Good coffee too!

Speak to Simon 011 867 1692 / 060 961 4099.

In JHB Mikes Bikes has a great reputation. I am moving to ParkTownNorth soon and this will be my LBS, close to State5 too which is a bonus.

Complete in Bryanston, has a newish workshop manager who came from Dunkeld and he is pretty solid.

On the West, Westrand Cycles also has a sterling reputation. However they are very Spezzy.

A bit more north Summit Cycles also has a good reputation and once you get to know the owner, he is known to go more than the extra mile.

I went to linden cycles on advice that they were good too, came back with a good shock in a worse condition than it was before, and they screwed up my rear XO dérailleur somehow, which i ended up fixing myself. All this hassles and all i wanted was them to service my shocks and rebuild my bike that i stripped and cleaned myself.

Sorry to hear.

I am in no way affiliated to Linden Cycles so I have no specific interest in defending them. Having said that though, my experiences with them have been good in terms of servicing and building a bike. I suppose it depends on which technician you get? I think the very experienced guys are very good, but they do also seem to employ some apprentices. And perhaps, sometimes in busy periods, some quality assurance slips through? not sure...

THE TRAILHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

while I have spent lots of money in cycle lab fourways due to convenience and the relationship i have with them built over a number of years, JHound at the trailhead will always gives honest advice( sometimes to his detriment as if he cant sell you the right product he will suggest somewhere else to get it). the shop is small but clean and they have one of the best workshop techies in the country, again this being Jason. he is able to fix just about anything to a state better than factory( from my experience).

customer experience is paramount and they have an awesome coffee shop to grab a bite.

Highly subjective subject this ... I find most if not all  overpriced and if you don't have the latest model of the highest priced brand they wont even give you the time of day, and oh, the resident eggspurts always make me wince and head for the door.

But if you are on the east or central side of Jhb, even the northern or western burbs, go see Daryl's dad's shop: Tony Impey Cycles  http://www.tonyimpeycycles.co.za/  in Bedfordview,  family run shop and will at least give honest service and advice (a rare commodity in these parts).

They don't have the best quality gelatin capsules though....

Finishline Cycles in Kempton Park.

Very friendly and very helpful guys. They also carry alot of stock, and if they dont have it they will call and findout there and then, not the usual we will findout and never let you know....

Is this innuendo adding value to the conversation?

If you are in the market for gelatin capsules then I would say yes. They probably also have "Take a Joke" pills on special too, might be worth a try.

The shop you're looking for is Swiss Cycles. Full on professionional Retul 3D Motion fitment system. And the BMC Fourstroke is a freaking awesome 29er full-sus. Give them a call and ask to speak to Justin.

+1 for Swiss Cycles

While phoning them i spoke to the receptionist (Nicole), then the technician (Nick) to order a part, then the owner (Justin) to book a Retul 3D fitment, they were all so super friendly that i actually looked forward to going there to meet them and spend my money there.

Haha, let's not tell Nicole that you thought she was the receptionist. She is actually Brand Manager/Public Relations/Accounts & more.

Is it the Super full moon that is raising all of these Zombie threads from the dead?

This is the third one this week.

The Hub is now retro..... TheThriftHub

Edit: and besides the gelatine capsule story never gets old.
