Bike Jacking Melville

Another guy was jacked on the that infamous section on the corner this morning. We came across him and his buddy a few mins after this happened. Look banged up but ok.

Seems that jackings are on the increase in that area again. Hopefully somebody catches these cowards that smack cyclist with poles in the dark and gives them some of their own medicine soon!

From the guy who got attacked 4 attacks in 10 days

Got hit over the head and off my bike with a 2.5m long rod this morning in Melville (Rustenburg Rd bend close to Barry Hertzog Rd just before Jhb Country club) - 4 guys so had no chance. Bike and all bits and bobs gone. Other than bruises all over ok - Howard, be careful - I am sure they would want that Pivot - Michael Meyer who is one of the guys we rode Epic with. This is getting ridiculous!

Do you have more details of the exact location - I have mates who do a  Friday morning Spruit stint up there and they were asking...

On Rustenburg Road, there where is runs next to the M71, they smack the guys off the bikes, take their bikes and things and then go down the steep slope to the left, over the M71 in into the storm drains.

There is  no way you can catch them or chase them down there.

Been following up on the Melville group with this and did recce on that road today, think I've found the spot these guys use.

Theres a gap in the road barrier leading into the bushes, so today or tomorrow I'm going to see what can be rigged up inside there as a deterrent.

If anyone has any ideas and/or wants to join, let me know. Use this route on a regular basis, so it's personal.

Land mines. With nails and ball bearings taped to the thing.

I live in the area.

CSS Security is active in Melville and Richmond.

I will contact the head of patrols at CSS to ask him to step up patrols on Richmond Road in the mornings and keep a lookout for shady characters.

They have already said they will. Cannot commit to it 100% as they have call outs and emergencies sometimes and need to send the guys to go look. But have said they will try and send patrols through there between 5:30 and 6:30 on weekdays.

This is info I got from a Whatsapp group, so not first hand.
