Hi guys

I would just like to know if anybody experience the same problem as me? I experience a serious amount of flex on my DH 60mm carbon  clinchers? Is this because of my weight perhaps? I come in at 86kg's. I also experienced a loud screeching sound at the emperors race on Sunday, especially freewheeling over 40km/h from my backwheel, but when I pedal the sound goes away. Can this be the free wheel body on the backwheel perhaps? I've put my Cosmic Elite wheelset back on the bike and they feel much more "bulletproof" on the bike.

Just use the search function as, even recently, have been covered by another

Yes, there's been a few concerns raised here within this cycling forum

I have the 38mm DH and all is fine, freebody is noisy much more so than my AMC and Mavics.

I use for both training and racing. As for weight am 75kg and dont experience overly noticeable flex.

Maybe go get the wheels retentioned

What actually the cause of the flex?

Physics? If you apply a force on something that's not rigid enough, it'll bend. So it can be something in the hoops' design/manufacture or the way the wheels were laced up.

Bla bla bla. So it can be something in the hoops' design/manufacture or the way the wheels were laced up.

Is the weave different? What weave is best? Material quality, effective use of material..... Thanks.

Weave can be different and does influence the way the cured carbon fibre handles stresses. What's best depends on the application and it's not uncommon for various different weaves to be mixed in a larger carbon fibre structure.

It's not a simple "Oh just use this super awesome weave and everything is magic" solution. There's actual engineering that goes into these things.

That's (hash)bikehubing. Thank you.

Been riding the 50 mm DH clinchers for 2 years now.

Very stiff wheels!!! Especially with the Sapim Cx spokes.  The 60 mm should be even stiffer.

I weigh mid 70's to 80.

On the screeching sound.  Contact DH wheels - there is probably a small washer thingy missing in the rear wheel freebody.  Happened to mine when they switched the freebody from Shitmano to Campag.  An easy fix.

Didn't DH change manufacturers over the last year or two? May be mistaken here, but if that's the case, it may explain a difference in stiffness.
