Torkcraft/CwC work stands, slight fail?

So the aforementioned workstands, great price, very helpful and awesome, UNTIL you try turn the cranks, then the achilles tendon is revealed, they are 4 legged unlike the more pro grade 3 legged stands and that means the legs get in the way of the pedals unless you pick the bike up ridiculously high.

Or is there something I'm not seeing?

I think the idea is to work on the bike at eye level.

That is what I do anyway.

Same. Never had an issue.

Ja, never had an issue with mine although the pedal does hit the tray but a quick adjustment of the tray position and all good

I think you are mounting the bike too low. These stands are handy but not very durable. Mine is nearing it's end after only two years but for the price it is probably good enough.

Quick release mechanism on the clamp is falling apart which is the main issue. Other than that the plastic joints and things just wear quite quickly.

Shot dot. I'll keep and eye on these bits

Ok right, it's that thing called user error!

I was doing something without lifting the bike right up and all I could see in my minds eye was the Park tool stand that has the legs well away from the bike, as long as the wheel is just off the ground it looks like you can spin the cranks/backwheel freely.

Oops close the thread ;D

My Torkcraft has the pedal/ tray clearance issue, but as stated, moving the tray solves that.

The clamps are an issue, mine has only been used twice, if I clamp a bike by the seat post, it slowly rotates until the front wheel hit the ground. The clamp to adjust this cannot go any tighter as the ends are touching. I suspect that it would work better clamping the top tube at a point where weight distribution is better, but who wants to clamp on the top tube?

Saving for a better one.

I use a yellow dust cloth between the clamps and the bike. Works a treat.
