I dont like them either, i see them alot on gumtree as well, i then just irritate the advertiser by replying with ridiculous offers and then i tell them, well that would have been a bargain.

I feel sorry for new guys to the industry as they might not know fair price for an item and then they come on here and think "bargain" must be.

So you deliberately go and try to irritate them and make false offers? That's not cool either.

You shouldn't need to say bargain as the buyers should know their pricing or google it for an idea and therefore can make judgement themselves if its a good price or not.

In my ads i never say that or negotiable. Its up the the buyer to come with a price and then the negotiating can begin. Very rarely is the price advertised the price being paid.

It is the same guy. Spinning all sorts of stories as to the origin of the bike, reason for sale, etc. Not to mention the spec which is constantly posted incorrectly.

We've banned him from here and will continue to do so should he return.

Take caution and please report any suspicious ads.

Please use the "report this advertisement option" on Gumtree to burn this guy - I would do it, but you have the detail first hand and for me it would be hear-say

I don't get the theory of advertising high and negotiating down to the correct reasonable price. I always advertise very close to lowest price I am willing to except and then if the buyer wants to neg there is some wiggle room but very little. But to be honest very seldom get ppl wanting to neg at all.

Probably why I lose so much and sell quickly. I also never put neg and on the odd occasion have put bargain . Which is wrong,I probably should of put stealing especially when it sells in the first hour.

I base anything I sell on what I would want to pay for it and feel like I got a good solid deal. Value for money.

I'm with you there.

I usually advertise for what I would be willing to pay for it.

My main goal would be that both parties walk away satisfied, neither feeling like they have won nor lost.

But there are always some who take the piss. I sold a guy a set of brand new 142x12 hope proII evo end caps for 80 bucks and a 'surprise' (expecting a nice beer or something) and he gave me a biscuit! A biscuit! hahahahaha

There are only 2 globally accepted, non-financial currencies for cyclists, #1 = Beer & #2 = Coffee.
